    Mondays just suck! People suck.

Had 11 deliveries today. One ate up a bunch of time. One, new restaurant, owner was called, delivery was OK'd per notes on my manifest. Get there, nobody there, even though the owner knew I was coming today. Call supplied phone #, he's in another town about 25-30 miles away, can I come back later? I tell him I'll call if I'm back in the area around noon to 1, otherwise it will be tomorrow morning. My first pickup was fairly close by, so I call him, it's 12:20. He wants his shit, knows I'm going to call, he's on his way to Chicago! Asshole!!

The other trouble delivery, they were buried with deliveries this morning. I get there and the doors are full. Wait a few minutes, not going to clear a door soon, so I head to my next delivery, which is only about 4 blocks away. Get back, one of the previous guys cleared his door but some guy with a trailer full (58 bundles) of knocked-down corrugated boxes has just backed in. FML! Off to another del, about 3 blocks the other way and when I get back, a door is free so I can deliver my 1 pallet. At least I get paid by the hour.

Pickups went pretty smooth, only had to wait for a door at 1 place, my last pickup. Get done, I'm 8 hrs into my day, half hour back to the yard and put everything away, figure I'll be done. Nope, here's a door, grab an empty trailer from the yard, you're going back out. Turns into a 10 hr day. Not expecting sympathy from the 14 hr crowd, yet 10 is a long day these days.

Only 4 to go...60 weeks to retirement!

Got my truck back from repair today, they have had it since Nov 9th. Feels good to be back in my truck. It's a pos but it's my pos! Shifts and drives much better than the rental.

Funny you mentioned that... We don't have assigned trucks, per se, but our scheduler just tends to give people the same truck every day. Well, the one I usually use was sent out one night on a linehaul run. The next day, it dies going down the freeway. After a couple of times, I figure out how to get around this BS and have it run OK most of the day. The next day, much the same. Our terminal doesn't have a shop, we contract with a local shop. They bring it in and evaluate the situation. The determine it has a bad sensor in the DEF system somewhere. That night, scheduling sends it to our Milwaukee terminal, which does have a shop. They have it for over two months replacing shit in the exhaust system, piece by piece, each time having to wait several days while parts are being located. Ended up swapping almost everything exhaust related.

Truck comes back, send it out overnight, driver hits a deer. Back in the shop for over a month.

Truck comes back last week, I get it one day, goes out overnight again...dies, DEF system error. My boss told the regional manager he doesn't want it back. We've put about 500 miles on that truck in almost 6 months.

Shame, I liked that truck. Something about the seat in it really worked well for my back.

Talking with a buddy of mine and he loves their old international, stick is a little sloppy, very little insulation so it’s loud, and radio may or may not work. The real kicker is they also have a 2020 389 w/coffin sleeper with like 40k miles and he just can’t drive it. The shifter is still fresh and notchy but he hates it. Says he can’t feel the gears and he prefers the old international daycab that rattles and shakes.
