I'd say good design, poor implementation. The aftermarket tuners are catching up fast.

Next mod day I'll let you take her for a rip, I don't know how much torque you're getting down low from the kd tune but it feels really good especially on the newest iteration

Yeah, not sure on actual "power", but, responsiveness, and drive ability are key.
If I feel strongly enough about the power(or she if she pushes me enough, she misses her Charger), I'll put a Magnusson on it, and dyno tune it with a modded shift strategy/OV/OTT/KD, etc).
It's fine for what we use it for.
I have a TRUCK for doing TRUCK stuff...

Good luck, fingers crossed for y’all.

If it were me, I'd drive. I like driving, like my Tacoma, like seeing the sights along the way. My wife found the trip a grind, but part of that was because we did it down in three days. Back was four which was better.

If we move, I'll have to make at least on trip down and back to get some stuff down there that I don't want to ship. That might be in the Tacoma, but might be in a box truck depending.

Used to do the trip straight through, maybe crash in a rest stop for a few... typically Tennessee or Alabama. Usually have my 4 legged co-pilot with me, and finding a room for a dog her size on short notice can be difficult.
Then, last June, stopped for a night, got a room. Quick shower, a pint to unwind, 6 or so hours of sleep, and on the road at 6am...
This summer, while extenuating, we took 3 days(was right after the accident), semi-planned stops, sometime after dinner time. Everything took longer.
If she wasn't in a wheel chair, and I wasn't still hurting, would have been MUCH better at that pace.
I keep saying I'll make the trip at MY pace one day... but, dont think that will ever happen. Always a deadline looming on the horizon....
Just her, or her and the youngest, I fly them. I believe the best luck we've had was United. Pretty sure she'll never fly American again.
As it is, trying to sort out next fall's trip, whether we drive or fly to Miami.

I much prefer travel by bike, but, no sidecar, so, can't take the dog, no matter how well behaved she is....:D

But, when we moved, I rented a TRUCK, put my Jeep on a trailer, she drove the Charger. Was GREAT doing the climb out of Chattanooga with that kept that little Dt466e SCREAMING.....:ballchain:

If I had a good co driver, I could go straight through. Well, it would help if I were younger. The last straight through trip was 2012 when my son moved from AL to NJ. I flew to Baltimore, he picked me up, and we drove straight through to the Gulf Coast. He had two cats and a couple of other things, but everything else including my DIL and grandson went separately.

Before that it was eastern MA to central IA. I had a really good co driver on that one, but it took about three hours longer than it should have because Google Maps lead us wrong and Waze didn't exist.

When we drive to SC, we stop in western VA overnight somewhere, usually Winchester.

When I drove with my daughter to TX in 2014, we took the southern route which brought us through GA, AL, MS, and LA into Texas. This year my wife and I took the more northern route through TN, AR, and then into TX. Nashville was a PITA because the Vice President landed there just before we got to the area and the police gave no advance warning.

I did that climb out of Chattanooga on the way from Alabama to Nashville on one trip. At night.

I always like to get an early start so as to avoid rush hour traffic. Mostly that works.

That lag exists on the MT trucks as well. The throttle response on my truck unless I've absolutely mashed it from a stop does a great job of mimicking my old STi. Nothing nothing nothing everything, shift. I usually short shift enough I don't notice it, but it's there. I can take my foot off the floor, rev the truck and put my foot back on the floor before it responds to throttle input. I don't love it, but I don't have any desire to tune it either.

My older one had tubes. She was getting ear infections almost constantly in one ear or the other. As soon as we had tubes they disappeared. I'm not sure she got one after that. Our younger one didn't end up needing them because she was home during the early days of COVID and simply never got sick to get an ear infection, but we were fully anticipating her needing tubes as well..

Dodge Ram has a different spin on their hemi’s. Shuts off the injection to 4 cylinders to conserve fuel.

Oof. Whenever we go into Boston I refuse to drive. It makes no sense. We pass like 18 T stops on the way, and there's a commuter rail from Providence.

    Fingers crossed on kiddo!

Yessir! Thank you! I was doing mine last night and had a facebook group chat going, talked about "the guy from Boston with the lights wrapped around the limb risers" and couldn't find any picture to show it off

I just did my roof rack. Tonneau, and no limb risers. I want to find something to slap on the grille though.

That's nothing new. Chevy does the cylinder shut down also. Ford uses start/stop to help fuel economy. Dodge uses start/stop also, but a little different spin. They all have hybrid configurations as well. That's sort of my point, the half ton offerings are running similar fuel economy as the Tacoma without making their trucks lazy AF. They can still be fun to drive and responsive, I don't understand how or why Toyota did what they did with the Tacoma's throttle response. I understand it can be tuned out, but that's a solution for an issue to a problem that shouldn't exist to begin with.
