Thanks! I appreciate your input. I would gladly carry a battery or two around, if that was the answer. I would try Phonak, if the closest Costco wasn't 60 miles away. I'll wait for the OTC hearing aids market to open up a bit more.. it's coming.

    Edit.. It's here.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/c***d snifflers. @ImpulseRed008 sorry to hear that it finally caught up to you, very glad to hear that it appears to be a mild case. Considering where we were with this thing in 2020 I find it pretty amazing and encouraging that it has gotten to the point of being about as bad as the seasonal flu, if that. As most folks here know I lost a stepson to it back when the symptoms were a lot worse for most people.

@Tacoma Mike we don't all have air compressors for filling tires -- any favorites for standalone gauges? I have a Longacre that works well enough and has lasted a long while. I think I've replaced the battery twice, it lasts a long time too.

    Good morning all!

All the talk around here about cell phones....I'm probably an outlier here. I have a Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2 which most of you have probably never even heard of. Android OS, these things are a sort of militarized cell phone. Waterproof to 6 feet deep for up to 30 minutes, Sapphire glass screen so no screen protector required. Shock resistant, freeze resistant, open slot for a micro SD memory card, housing is aluminum so you don't even need to put it in a case. All ports have silicone o-ring seals around hem to keep water and dust out. My first one slid out of the mount on my motorcycle handlebars and slid down the shoulder of an off ramp about 20-30 feet on its screen. Pulled over and picked it up and there were NO scratches on it at all. Only weak spot is the camera in it could be better. All this and under $500. There are a lot of guys on the ADV Rider forum buying them up to use for their internal GPS since the phone itself is so durable.

    Sorry Susan. Get well quickly.

Good morning. Guitar lesson and not much else going on today. Salmon and shrimp for dinner. Raining and windy outside today so grilling might not be an option.

Does anyone use 360 cookware? Looking to replace my older cookware, some pots and pans are 50 years old, and some are 30 years old. I have a few pieces of cast iron that are close to 70 years old. Took advantage of a Black Friday sale and bought 360 cookware essentials set, one pot and a sauté pan, both with lids, at 30% off a sale price.

Well, longacre has nice stuff. I see lots of them at the track.
We have a cheap one. I wish that fucker would die so I could get a longacre or similar.
I did a bad thing a few years ago.
A ahole racer in our class kept asking me what I was running for tire pressure.
I told him and he didn’t believe me. So I showed him. Finally got rid of him.
What I didn’t tell him is the gauge we use is off. And once you know that it’s
    No problem.

So he got out on us real good but, we pulled him back in and passed him for the win.
    His car lost its handle.

    I’m a bad boy…. Lol

I can see you're feeling really bad about that! :drunk: And I thought cooks and bakers that left out important ingredients, or changed a recipe slightly before giving it up... were devilish.
Don't you have some sort of code of ethics in racing, like: thou shall not send another driver into the wall?

in our racing we get penalized for touching another car.

Hey, he was the idiot for thinking my setup and his work the same.
His fault he used my info. If he really used it or not.

That's competition... You got me thinking, I've brought an extremely low tire situation to the attention of many a driver, and once I told a person their exhaust was glowing red... I could see it as they passed through a stoplight. Sometimes you can get a real quizzical stare from people you warn of impending vehicle failure... Like they never heard of someone looking out for the safety of others, or maybe they just couldn't figure why you were flagging them down. Sometimes, they get it, and you know you've changed the outcome of their day for the better..

    Morning all:
Forgot to mention that I also had mild chills for a day or two and a wet cough from the congestion. All in all, if I had a choice between getting the mild form of covid I experienced, or kidney stones like some recently posted about, I would choose the covid every time!
Hopefully you're on the downside of it Sue, the variant that everyone seems to be getting now doesn't seem to be anywhere near as severe as when it first made its rounds. As Mark stated, each individual may react differently because of variations in their immune systems and health related factors.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & GET BETTER Sue! Never had it :fingerscrossed:, so I can't offer my 2 cents on symptoms. Hope it's mild and you've seen the worst of it! Like they say, "you'll be back doing (things you never do) in no time at all!"

Putz is indoors until it warms up. OK, still have a dimmer to fix, and some chores. Brilliantly cool 40's this morning.

5 1/2 hours of bench time with the replacement garage door opener. All the same old problems - absolutely will not connect to WiFi. How many different ways to phrase a google search? Finally, found someone (with a completely different system) that said they had to turn OFF their 5 GHz signal entirely, so, after poking around in Windows, Norton, and Spectrum, I found a way that my Tenda mesh will do just that for 1/2 hour. And....that did it. So, I did it with the original, and it went licketey split!

I searched their online support for that fact.....doesn't exist.

I have a warranty spare now, and don't feel in the least guilty about it.

Except for my son, none of our cases will be recorded, since we tested at home.

Thanks Mark. Mainly dry cough here

Was reading last night that not many are taking the latest shot....

Thanks Ken. Hope you feel better fast

Just FYI - I did to the latest boost, and the current flu shot at the same time. I had no reactions at all. That darn tetanus shot was by far worse!

Speaking of shots... if you ever had Chicken Pox, consider the Shingles Vaccine. When I was small, I had an extremely bad case of C.P. I thought I'd go insane, and I was only 4 or 5...

As to COVID, I am one of those people that have been lucky to have not gotten it (knock on wood). My wife got it, but being VAXed, she only had a head cold / congestion / cough for a few days. Tested positive for a good long time after that (maybe a week or so). I slept right next to her in the same bed, the same room. NADA.

I don't want to falsely claim causality, but as a kid, I grew up in a household with dirt on the floor. We were pretty darn poor. That probably stressed my immune system early which is said to make one's immune response better (medical people say kids brought up in sterile surroundings have issues). I also have only received the FLU vaccine once... I've never needed to get it, and if I've ever gotten the FLU, seem to have had only a very mild case. They say viral load is important... I wonder if my immune system is effective against load levels that others would have a problem with.

As a child, I did have a very bad case of Pneumonia which caused me to be hospitalized. Probably no connection there. At any rate, I'm glad I'm fully boosted. Be safe.

This is the only IoT device I have ever had that had to have the other signal turned off to connect. I have some 30 ish IoT devices around the house - most far cheaper - never had that issue. Oh well, something to tuck into the cobwebs of my memory.

BTW, all's fair in love and racing.

There are a few things you can do, if you think the garage door is having a problem acting on the signals of the remote.
1). Make sure you are NOT using any LED bulbs in the opener. Some bulbs generate a lot of RF noise.
2). Go into your router and MOVE the channels your router uses for 2.4 and 5.0Ghz.

As to (2), w.r.t. WiFi interference and throughput in general, if you live close to another person who has WiFi, do yourself a favor, and log into your router, and make sure your channels don't overlap those of your nearest neighbors... How does one do this?
Download onto a cell phone, or a PC, an application that displays the active APs (access points) generating WiFi traffic in your vicinity.

3). You can always try placing an antenna on the outside of your home to better pick up the signal from the remote.

4). You might be able to relocate your WiFi router to a better spot in the house further away from the garage door.

5). Put a nice fresh battery in your remote.
