I figured it out. Bad temp sensor. Running good again! I live in East Texas and there are still quite a few 1st gen tacos running around but they all seem to be extended cabs. My single cab is a pretty rare sight around here.

I live in central VA and old Toyotas are everywhere as hunting trucks.. see them all the time with dog boxes on the back. They are tough as nails.

This is the 1st gen I had and two brothers I know both have Tacoma's. The regular cab in the back is a 4 cyl 5 speed with 295xxx and still going strong.

No just regular maintenance and of course wear and tear items like tires, brakes, water pump, battery etc. The only issue I have right now is that my factory paint is peeling on the inner door jams "super white" paint.
I had it serviced at the dealer recently and the service manager asked if I was looking to sell it. lol

Great - thanks - one thing I had to do was front wheel bearings - a very common thing on Tacoma's - looking forward to many more miles. I have 150K - when did your water pump go ? My brother in law's alternator went at 255K .

I have a 2009 4cylinder with 360k miles on it. I've replaced a few things, but now I have a head gasket with a leak that needs to be repaired.

Wow - that is an amazing amount of miles! Sorry to hear about the head gasket leak. To know that the 2.7L is capable of mileage like this is great. Do you think you'll get the head gasket replaced? To me, 2009 is not that old so I probably would if other things are in good order.

    What transmission do you have?

Mine is auto and I absolutely love it. It's been a great truck until the fuse box caught on fire coming home from a job so now I'm having trouble with the wiring harness.
