I knew an old school (in town local) insurance agent with a deer head mount in his office missing half the hair. If you were his client, didn’t matter what you hit he would pull a few pinches of hair from the mount and put it by the damage.
Dear hit is a no fault claim….
    Love the old ways

Actually newer ARBs are compatible with radar features(both TSS and radar cruise), it looks almost the exact same but a slightly updated model came out a year or two ago with some tweaks made and I think a kit to relocate something on the truck to make it compatible.

Also there's a new MKII summit that's started coming out. No clue if they're going to bother releasing the MKII on the Tacoma with a new gen around the corner.

ASF as daily stuff besides the weight the benefits actually outweigh the drawbacks IMO. It adds to the length but I find that the top bar provides a nice visual reference for parallel parking in tight spots, and if someone hits you getting into the tight spot they'll be the ones crying.

Another benefit I've noticed is that people stay the hell out of my way in traffic lol. I always get let in when I want to merge(that probably has more to do with the battle scars and rock sliders) and left lane hogs scoot right over when they see me coming before I'm even close to what you could call tailgating.

My particular lights help too not saying I blind them, I never turn them on when not off road, I think it's the evil smiley cover lol.

Guess no one wants this looming in their rearview

I did that too and it’s a natural instinct but swerving can become over correcting then rollover. Those little bastards cause mayhem.

My future DIL is a claims adjuster. I always ask her what the dumbest phone call she has had lately and one time it was a claimant was furious because a deer strike was not covered under the "uninsured motorist" coverage he had on his policy.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. I hit a 160# doe a couple of weeks ago and had no where near that damage.
    It's all repairable though. If you're not injured that's what's important .

Can't speak for deer, but I had a coyote do this very thing to me back in '90s when I used to commute through Malibu canyon every morning on my way in to Santa Monica. Did a number on the front end of my ride when I hit it at 60mph.

My friend hit a moose once in Newfoundland with a Land Rover Discovery 1.

He says his steel bumper very well could've saved his life and definitely his rig. He was pretty remote and not in a good place to get injured, or even just have a disabled vehicle.

glad youre okay mate! always scares me to imagine them coming through the windscreen mid jump. always a crapshoot to see what insurance says. hit a deer once that totalled the front of the car, was embedded in the radiator :anonymous: but insurance still fixed it. if they do pay you, maybe put some money toward ARB if deer & moose are a common problem. i just tend to drive way more cautiously now. good luck!

We'll most definitely keep our eyes open...and plan on leaving 30 minutes earlier than we usually do...so we can drive slower...

    Some stuff
So far, in my lifetime, I’ve had the severe displeasure of hitting three deer in three different cars, totaled one of the cars, ended up on its drivers side after I railslided a guard rail.
The hair stays on the littlest edges and dents in the most amazing ways. They shit all down the side of the vehicles all the time. I was most unhappy when one shit down the whole side of my car.
I’ve seen the road and fields filled with them, like a flock of mosquitoes.
A friend had the intestine hanging off the passenger mirror after an impact.
I also heard this guy cut one in half on his crotch rocket. Better than skidding out and dumping his bike.
