How many dirt bikes we talkin about?
2 should be no problem in the short bed, tailgate will just need to be down.

I traded in my beloved VW GTI for a Tacoma specifically for hauling dirt bikes. Granted I'm only hauling kids dirt bikes that both fit with the tailgate closed in a SB. But once i get a dirtbike for me (pending wifey approval) that sucker is going in the back too, or i'll just use one of those trailer hitch carriers for the 3rd dirt bike.

Dude those numbers are almost the same lol.

I owned a trail boss and the ride off road was pretty damn good. I'm not rock crawling the truck lol and at that point does ride quality matter when you're trying to scale a mountain and doing gnarly off roading? No.

Fire roads, logging roads, Simple rocky trails, the trail boss rode awesome.

The visibility is fine. It's pretty clear you have never driven one.

I don't get the hate on Chevy here. I love my taco. But I also see why some like Chevys. Obviously reliability wise, I don't think there's any argument. Toyotas in general are more reliable than Chevys in general. I think anyone who says otherwise is smoking some good stuff that they should share with the rest of us. That being said though, Chevy's have their own advantages like more power for example. Its really just a matter of preference. Personally, you'd have to pay me to own a modern Chevy truck. I don't like how their faces look, and I'm skeptical on their reliability. I like to own things long term and just don't want to deal with even having to worry about what if something goes wrong with my truck. Just the thought of running around dealers trying to get a fix for my truck and being given a CUV to drive is enough for me to not want to spend my money on it. But some people don't care about that shit. They're able to live life without worries. Me? I worry a lot. Some people want a truck to mess around with for less than 3 years and then move on to the next bigger better thing. I get that. Its not me, but I get it. They like the power, the looks, the feel, the "domestic" part, the modern tech, whatever. Like I said, its just a matter of preference. No need to hate on either. Even though the Chevys aren't for me, I'm still really glad they exist.

Looks like every truck from a 1/2 ton on down including the Ridgeline can make it up to 200,000 miles.

Right, because anyone that disagrees with you can't possibly have had a different experience or opinion than you. They just have to be wrong.

For the record I have driven the Trail Boss, and it's a fine truck... on the road. It's shit off road, though. That's why my friend that had it traded it for a Taco.

Explain what made it shit off road? Remember were talking ride quality here as mentioned by you. Please explain how the tacoma had better ride quality off road. My trail boss rode better than both my 2nd gen with upgraded suspension and my bone stock 3rd gen.

Even if you want to talk about offroad performance. The trail boss is lifted, comes with independent front suspension, rancho suspension, rear locker and duractracs andddd has more ground clearance than a tacoma. Yea its bigger but so is every full size truck

I hate GM and will never buy another one, but facts are facts.

Go reread my post. I said that once it's off road the plush ride that chevy touts is gone and it rides like any other truck. I DID NOT say it was a worse ride off road. Don't take your lack of reading comprehension and spin it into people saying things they didn't. The thing that makes the truck less desirable off road are the massive blind spots. Any slight incline of the nose makes you lose sight of everything remotely close to the truck/tires. For the record, dirt roads are not off road.

He did, I wouldn't. I hate GM. The bailout was all the money they'll ever get from me, and where I work all the pickups are chevys. Plenty of experience, and I don't like them. That doesn't mean others can't, and you don't have to have the same opinion as I do, but the argument to authority is a common tactic of weak/failing positions. You've provided nothing but opinions and objections, and even when shown proof (turn radius images) you stick to your confirmation bias. You'd rather declare others liars than allow them a difference of opinion or address any of the points they've actually raised.

Grasping at straws with that comment.

Your opinion is baseless when you spew bs to try and prove your opinion and have no real-world experience in said topic to back it up.

You have never owned a trail boss or driven one in any sort of off-road experience. All you have is that your "buddy" owned one. So, in reality your opinion is not valid.

Again, with the personal attacks and accusations of false claims. Why? What would I gain from lying about driving a truck? Why does somebody not liking the Trail Boss matter so much to you?

Direct injection, not backed up by port injection is bad due to carbon build-up. Also I'm not sure just deactivating the variable displacement is enough, the lifters themselves are the weak point and could still fail. No comparison between a modern GM and a Toyota. Toyotas that fail before 150k are the exception not the rule, with GMs those that make it past 150k are the exception.

Ah, I have driven it off road. I did not own it but we took his truck on several fishing trips on which I was permitted to drive, and those were enough that when it came to an actual off road trip (mild one) on Imogene Pass we opted to take the Tundra because the Trail Boss would have been unnecessarily difficult on such a simple trail. As previously stated, if you stay on roads the chevy is fine, but if you want to go off road it's not the best option.

    I still miss the Chevy I used to drive. 2005 2500 single cab 4x4 6.0 with a 5 speed

Shame their motors have gotten so complicated since then.

yea you had one of the last really great GM trucks imo. I had a 2010 with the smaller v8, awesome truck. They lost me with the afm stuff.

Yes, the 5.3 is no more reliable, the bed on the taco is fine for dirtbikes, and the sound of the borla will lose its appeal pretty fast. just buy a clapped out mustang and throw a borla on it.
