I ordered CaliRaised's new catalytic converter shields. And an ebay one for the wife's prius. I figure with an 08 prius and a taco in the driveway its only a matter of time until someone tries in the middle of the night.

Our neighborhood outside downtown Silver Spring has seen an uptick in cars and garages broken into, car theft and recently home burglaries. Most of the neighbors don't have cameras, and some don't even have outdoor lighting. Both were top of my list a year ago when we moved in.

 

I hear you on that one. I had looked at those as well but only had truck fund for the one thing.

I have the cats painted a florescent orange and hope that’ll be enough.

 

I’m sure like everything else, the market has scaled significantly and you just gotta hold out.

I live way up in the mountains of western MD and the dude that bought mine came from Delaware. He had a black DCLB and ended up covering my perfectly color matched blue cap, with black bedliner

Additionally, not enough people opt to get the BIG BOY REAL MAN bed and end up with that lil wheel barrow attached to the back of their cab

I'll be in southern MD in a week and a half and I'll see how much trucknamerica will give me. Might just store it under cover and keep it listed for sale until someone wants it.

I don't understand a 5' bed. A trucks cab should never be longer than the bed.

 

Whatever works for each individual, I guess that's the trade off they accept for having 2 bigger doors for the back seat.

 

I have the bigger doors and backseat and the big bed. Its like turning a school bus around.

 

DCLB is the only way to go! Aside from my wife's car it's still the smallest vehicle I drive.

 

I was actually about to buy a Softopper tonight but I can’t believe they are $899. BS for a canvas topper but it’s free shipping until Dec 20th.

 

$949 for the 6' bed + tax. And then another $80 if you want a solid rear window. Pretty ridiculous but I'm in the market for one. I'll probably watch for a used one for a few weeks but I gotta get something. Selling the cap will make it a much easier pill to swallow.
The bestop is a bit cheaper but I haven't heard as positive things and I don't like the clear window panels on the sides.

 

I personally think the best tops look like an ugly canvas tote that sits on the bed. Softopper is also doing a first responder/military discount if that means anything for you. I’m in the market for one too and haven’t had any luck on the used market.

 

Yep, I checked on that as well. They told me $40 off for first responders. Which is nice but it's still damn expensive!

To me its pointless because no one over 12 years old can sit back there comfortably

 

I have to say, driving on 301N out of Dahlgren at night and seeing this is a trip. Why, just why??

 

Debatable. There are short people out there older than 12 that can fit in the back of an access can comfortably!

 

Two points:

1) some of us have kids younger than 12.

2) I don’t really care if people in the back are comfortable. If they don’t like it, they can walk. But having the option to transport people that don’t complain is nice.

and if i’m planning on hauling people, a 4runner makes more sense. I’m just salty about all these short bed trucks diluting the market that are being bought up by people that dont use their trucks for truck things

 

Anyone looking for a rear bumper for a 3rd Gen. No idea about it other than it’s 200 at the 4w parts in Towson… if they even still have it.
