Recently got 315/70/17s (34.5") and with a good cab mount chop, SPC arms and an alignment shop, I've got no rubbing around town.

I went with an aggressive tire (KM3s) but I don't do long distance city commutes and I love to get off road. I will say that I did a 3 hour highway drive to some sand dunes last weekend and I don't enjoy highway as much as I did on my 275/70/17 KO2s , but it's not horrible.

I'm re-geared to 5.29s and tuned for the tire size and gearing.

There are still some things I still need to do in order to off road and actually use suspension travel. I'm still working out the full approach that I'll be taking.

Well.. one day it died while on the freeway. I was pissed off thinking it was another fuel pump but they sent me a picture with the tank full of some thick chalky powder looking thing. Got the insurance to fix it under a vandalism claim, still ran like crap. Tried fixing it again and idk it just never ran right. Toyota offered me what I paid for it so I cut my losses.

Not gonna lie, it’s been a rough year without her.

Zero freaking regrets. I enjoy the challenge and spending alone time in the garage figuring shit out. It's a long hard road to 35s, it gets really expensive if you can't do the work yourself, mildly expensive if you can do the work. Huge factor in the set up/price, is if you actually wheel. For my re-gear and lockers was $3,300 after core return from ECGS. The lockers alone were $1,900+/-. You can't beat ECGS. And if that sounds expensive, for perspective there are people out there that spend almost that on head lights alone. Almost everyone on this site has at least a couple grand in mods, of course give or take. If you focus on whats actually important and remove all the fluff, it's not that bad. I will also call myself out, I have a good amount of fluff on my truck, but I also have the fundamentals under control. As I venture out of FL to more challenging trials, the truck will continue to get worked on and modified. I enjoy the process of learning along the way. 35s just got me ready/showed me what I need for 37s. I could read all the threads and listen to everyone, but I would still have to do it myself. RVCs and Tundra rack are going in over Christmas break.

You want this truck to really shine on and off road, Gears, lockers and a tune, the rest is just build to what you wheel.

No regrets at all! Well worth it, especially around here 97% of Taco’s and 4Runner’s are on 33s…makes me feel special. :D

Didn't read the whole thread but in my opinion and in my case, I'm currently at 34s (285/75/17) and initially it was fine with a 3" lift and CMC, then got better with tune, then I put on the GFC and then did the gears and it got even better. With the gears and tune it's a joy! Now when the tires go, I'll switch to 35"s and do fender cut and more CM things.

It would have been way too much to jump right into 35's off the bat, I'm glad I'm on 34's and now I know I want to go bigger.

I was originally 33s, 4.88s and on OV.
Next step was 35s and making the wheel well adjustments as needed (CMC, pinch weld). I ran that setup for 2 years before switching to OTT.

Although the truck looks and feels freaking awesome, I’m starting to worry about what 35s will do over time to my steering rack and other steering/suspension components. I know I’m straining it more than rocking 33s.
But, it ain’t my DD - so no regrets

I regret lifting my truck so high more than anything
