Tonneau Cover Suggestions

I'm thinking of getting a Tonneau cover for my 06 Access Cab. Does anyone have any suggestions on the different kinds of covers? Also, does anyone from the Toronto Ontario area know of a good place to find one? Thanks.

 

I have an A.R.E. LSII fiberglass tonneau and I love it!

 

AGRI ACCESS LORADO Cover... Soft roll up with built in tensioners lays completely flat and doens't flap in the wind.

I'd stay away from the BakFlip -- mine is a piece of trash -- it's a gen1, but I've heard the gen2 covers are better.

I went with the UnderCover because it's very strong, easy to remove (pretty lite) and there is no chance of cracking or chipping. The color goes through the material. I the one downside is it comes only in black. But a lot of folks have had theirs painted. When it is locked, because of the overhang, it locks the tailgate as well. If somebody wanted in there bad enough they could get it, but it would be a chore. I liked the strength because being able to support a snow load without stretching. If you go to the UnderCover website they have a picture of about 6 guys standing on it with no problems.

I have the Larado on my truck as well. So far I am very impressed. It was an easy install and it rolls up and out in no time. I is even holding up great in the -30 weather I am hiding from right now. Have no problem in rain or snow! I just added a pop'n lock tailgate lock and that is secure enough for me.

If you're gonna go with soft tonneau, I highly recommend a tri-fold variety.
Or atleast one that encorporates the frame with the cover.

I've used snapped covers for years and they're OK - until I got a tri-fold. The tri-folds are more expesive, but they are MUCH easier to deal with especially in the cold weather.

I have an Advantage Torza top tri-fold. I wish I would've known about these a long time ago. It folds up, easy to fold, easy to remove completely. You can use your bed rails. No cold-weather issues.

I have an Access Roll-up cover.

 

Janster: How much and where did you buy it? I really like that one and I need to cover my bed. Right now I just tie down the stroller in the bed which means it's out in the elements.

 

i really like my access roll-up cover. the cross support rails are attached to the cover and roll-up with it making it a breeze to roll the cover up with one person. the rear bar helps keep the cover lined up nice when rolling and un-rolling. i've used them on all my trucks and never had a problem in severe cold weather. got mine for $400 installed at a local shop (370 out the door price). it's a very easy install but for $30 i had it done since i've got no place warm to work and its darn cold here in WI

 

I got it locally at a truck cap/accessories place. I think it was like $250 - but I know the manager "Jeff" who gives me good deals.

My truck, '09 Tacoma DBL-cab long bed; purchased the Lorado cover and received it yesterday. I will install it Friday. My only concern is the PLASTIC spacers for the side rails. They should be at least aluminum!
I'm going to try to find some metal spacers to use instead of plastic.
They might be OK but, not to me. Other than the spacers, I will be satisfied with the cover. I wish I had this cover on my last truck instead of a hard folding cover.

x5 on the Access Line of covers. I went with the Access Roll-Up.

My only gripe is that it is not easily removable. If it was, I guess it would be a theft risk but I haul dirt bikes and had to devise a spacer so my wheel would clear the rolled up cover. No biggie. The cover is VERY easy to roll up and down. Snaps are obviously outdated and not used any more but I am loving the VELCRO sides. I have had no issues and it is 99.9% waterproof under there.

I paid $340 shipped from Luke at Truck Alterations. It's BY FAR the best price around. Installation took me 30 minutes (solo).
