I've been riding pretty much every day but just a couple miles because I don't have anywhere to ride TO with purpose, and there's not really any fun roads in my area.

yea i rather it be totaled out, it was hit by a car I rather not a rebuilt bike

in the event I get stuck with it, I will more than likely trade it right in at the dealership for something new

no word from the driver of the car lol prob best that way i guess

Yeah, I don't blame you for wanting it totaled out. Definitely more piece of mind, unless the bike has a sentimental reason for sticking around.

If I were the one that cut somebody off, I'd have to follow up to try and help them out. I'd feel so bad if it were my fault.

A friend f mine in the insurance field told me once that the insurance companies generally advise their customers NOT to contact the other party as it can hurt them in the case of a lawsuit because that's like they're admitting responsibility. I can kind of see that but I think I'd have to reach out if it were me.

When my g/f and I got hit head on back in 2019 in TN that asshole never even reported the accident to his insurance company. Thankfully I had started a claim with my company immediately just to get things moving even though I had no fault in the accident.

Yeah, I can understand that. Maybe have the lawyer arrange the meeting with an NDA or exemption of liability clause or something. If it's my fault it's not like I'd lie anyway. I'd rather be right with my morals and face the lawsuit than be a skeezbag and avoid it.

unfortunately, NYS does not have no fault for motorcycles
even though I was not at fault and other driver failed to yield, because i was on a bike and not a car, no no fault in NYS for bikes..

Seriously? So you're automatically considered at fault, at least partially, just for the vehicle you drive? What a bunch of shit. I don't understand how people can stand to live on the coasts. The bullshit laws and guberment boot on the neck of everything... I don't think ocean views are worth the freedom that it costs.

So what happens there if you don't carry full coverage insurance on your bike? Someone can hit you, be completely at fault, and you're just out a motorcycle and possibly seriously injured?

I am not 100% sure on all the details, but in my case I had full coverage on my bike so that is covered and i have my own personal health insurance so seemingly most of my hospital bills are covered, then there are the lawyers.. so whatever idk will see how it goes

Pick a state park or somewhere you've never been and that's your "to". Also try searching for motorcycle routes and see what turns up, I've found some fun roads on this site...

Well I was going to pull up a Butler map of your area to show the good roads, but they don't have literally any marked in Florida, sooo guess you're right, no fun roads in Florida haha

Mostly just because of the lack of elevation here. There's no reason to have curvy roads here if it's all flat.

I've been thinking about this!! I'll try it at some point but my mom still isn't super keen on me riding longer-distance alone.

Florida isn't much of a hotbed of good motorcycle roads.

You're not really missing a whole lot beyond the tourist areas. I've ridden the whole way from Key West north to Georgia just this year and in 2019 from Daytona Beach the entire way across the panhandle to Louisiana. The only things Florida has resembling a twisty are the ramps on and off the highways.

I've browsed around in my area but not been able to find much in my part of the state. Only 1 paved race track.

True, I do love riding on the dirt but trails more than tracks

That's understandable... but you're off to a great start already having your moto license and multiple bikes
