Hey guys. Looking to buy this short ram intake by Injen. Anyone running one on their 2nd gen tacomas? Hp/ Torque gains? Mpg gain? Sound? Thanks.

Your truck already has a better true cold air intake stock.

Unless you like more noise, less power and less filtration, stick with stock.

dyno chart shows 18hp and 16Ib torque more. I don’t quite understand what you mean. The stock air intake sits too close and open to the engine to be “cold”. It also has far more restrictions in the intake itself.

I think the “noise” can sound good with a proper exhaust. Sounds more throaty in high rpms.

Go take a look at where the stock air box pulls air from.
I bet you’ll find it pulls it from the fender. Not the engine bay.

Stock intake pulls from outside of the engine bay all together.

never... EVER trust dyno numbers from the company trying to sell their product. The only time the stock intake has been shown to not flow enough is in supercharged applications when smaller pulleys are used.

I agree with the consensus opinion on TW that modifications to the intake system do not deliver any performance increases, but, It's YOUR truck. Modifying the intake system IMO, is like putting a lift on a mall crawler, putting on bigger tires and wheels for a grocery getter, installing a louder exhaust etc etc etc - poser mods, and perfectly OK. It's your dough and looks cool when you open the hood. If you want it - get it.

I can make a chart that shows a gain of however much hp and torque you want. Doesn't mean it's true.

I still think it’s pulling in more heat, it’s also much more restrictive.

Keep in mind guys, i’m looking to do long tube headers and all other bolt ons in the future. Would like my truck to sit around 290hp. Helps get the 33in tires around.

$300 to convert your factory engineered cold air intake into an engine bay hot air intake that will flood just the same is Genius
(no point to a snorkel, it's not like this is an off road vehicle or anything)

it basically gives you as much power as a Dodge Ram TRX
