Is this a suspension issue? 500 Miles on new suspension and it's ROUGH.

    few things here and there.
Not to mention running them in the third notch of the 5100’s.

Literally cannot wait until next week..

Thats not true. A longer coil spring, all other things equal, has a lower spring rate, ie is softer. However, by increasing the diameter of the wire, you can can a longer spring with the same spring rate.

“Lift coils” are typically longer springs with the same or similar spring rate as the stock. The added length lifts the truck.

That is some good advice right here. I'm on the 5th perch, stock coils, rides great and a one inch rear block, 285s with mud guards and no rubbing! Keep it simple.

8 years on front 5100 and stock springs on 3rd notch - no problems ride OK. As a note 4th notch height normally requires new UCAs to align.
Slight rack with rear OME heavy duty/5100 and camper shell but loaded for camping or towing about level.
As for trans fluid some say do and some say never do but a dealer full fluid exchange did help mine with shifting and converter lock up - why would new fluid hurt anything like changing your oil or diff fluids.
    Lots of opinions out there.

Yeah, the 5100’s were solid, but being on the third notch and overloading them with both bigger and stronger springs was a bad idea. Had I done OEM I’d have been fine.

So, someone mentioned putting weight in the bed of my truck to see if that changed anything. That’s the one thing I didn’t do.

Put a trailer on the truck.. seemed to have helped quite a bit with weight in the bed of the truck. So, I’m beginning to feel more and more like a dumb ass. This didn’t solve the problem, but at least it gives me more ideas.

To clarify, I know trucks ride like trucks, but what I’ve experienced just wasn’t present before. So it drove me crazy.

So, I’m going to throw some sandbags in and see what happens during regular driving. I think the stiffer suspension and my springs def just made things ride tougher. I ordered OEM springs, and a few other things to mix and match it up as well. At least the EDU update helped with the surging.. so there’s that.

Just throwing this out here in case my idiot self can help someone else..

interesting because I installed 16” OME 2888 coils on nitro charger shocks (16 590#) and they were super stiff and jarring compared to the 14” 700# coils I installed with my ADS coil overs. The OME was so stiff it blew out my ball joints in 10 months…never again

    A 700 lb/in coil is stiffer than a 590 lb/in coil. 700 > 590

For a longer coil to have the same or greater spring rate it has to have a thicker wire (or differing material). The coil diameter might matter too… I forget

ok, I understand which is greater. I knew that, maybe I wasn’t clear

Why is a Eibach 700# coil that is 2” shorter (14”) than a OME 590# (16”) coil feel so much softer? It can’t be that big of difference of coil material thickness between two different coils made for the same 3rd Gen Tacoma can it?…
