I am looking to buy a set with 500miles on them for $150. Is this a good deal or should I run as fast as I can???

    like these? C7B27949-E821-47CC-961F-72E439A52838.jpg

Preset 1.75 lift and they ride good. If they really have 500 miles on them— its worth it as long as you can do the install and go get an alignment at Toyota. I prefer these so far after 5k compared to the 5100’s I have on another truck. Id say go for it

Sounds good if they pass your inspection.

I do wonder why they were removed part out??

Do you run into any cv joint axle problems with these?
Are they intended to be used as a leveling kit?

I think they’d be worth a try for $150. You could possibly get them for a little less because they would be difficult to sell. If these are for your prerunner, axle angles won’t be a problem since it doesn’t have front axles.

All lifts create more angle for cv axles, usually just accelerates boot wear. It's more of an issue with spacer lifts 3" etc.

I'd go for it, 150$ is cheap.

Thanks guys for your input. If I do get these I will need to buy the shocks (new) to match. Rancho site says RS999180 and RS999226.

For those of you who either have them on your truck or have had all 4 installed, what is the ride like? Mine is an everyday driver and no offroad.

    So here are my options...

Buy the Rancho barely used struts and new shocks, at $510+ taxes and shipping

    OR

all brand new OEM struts, coils and shocks from the dealer for around $720+ whatever a mechanic will charge me for pressing the coils onto the struts.

If it were me and that was my truck, I would just opt to use 4600 shocks all around and some new coils.

By the way, was rather confusing for a bit...struts aren't used on these trucks.

Reason for going 4600 is because these trucks are already done right from the factory, stupid capable, no weird angles to wear your cv axle boots, and no preload which means a nicer ride overall.

    But wait, there's more...

The first set of options are to buy mostly new parts.

My second set of options are

    1) waiting to hear back from a seller with used OEM struts (coilovers) and then I would buy a set of new OEM shocks for $77 a piece.

    OR

    2) waiting for a guy to get back to me on a full set of used Bilsteins ( only 271 miles on them!!!) as he unfortunately rolled his Taco.

I would not buy used, non-serviceable shocks.

It's comical to see some sell their "barely used shocks" with 40k miles when they're basically at the end of their life.

Kwikvette, you always have to put a wrench in the system!!! But your input is always appreciated.

Nope, my 2003 has what some people call are 'struts' (basically shocks with coils), or sometimes referred to as coilovers.

Me being a novice to this who car/truck repair biz I really don't know the difference.

The word is used interchangeably, but not correct; your truck uses coilovers up front. I'll only make mention of it once and if it sticks cool, if it doesn't I'll leave it alone.

Back to your inquiry though, no I would not buy (nor recommend others to buy) used coilovers or shocks unless they can be rebuilt. The shocks in question cannot be rebuilt.

Are your shocks blown or you just want a bit of a lift ?

Mine are making that creaking noise while braking and also going over speed bumps. They have about 55k on them and it is time.

They are not the OG ones and are aftermarket set I bought online (partsgeek) I think

If anyone has a slightly used set of Rancho shocks, RS999180/RS999226 I am interested.
