The $100k question has always been whether the XTP spacer + TRD blower will clear the hood. I'm curious if I have 1/2" clearance to use one of these. I had one when I was N/A but sold it after doing FI.

No can do. The Magnuson/TRD lower intake has a different flange.

Same thing here. Spacer plus 2 degree exhaust cam gears. I don't have any dyno numbers, but the power difference is very noticeable.

I did several mods at once so tracking the fuel mileage is tough. All things considered, I think I lost about 1 mpg with the spacer and cam gears. More power generally does mean more fuel. The other problem with a boost in power is that you tend to use it!

I'm seeing positive reviews. Will probably order one after the holidays.

Is the spacer smog legal for us CA folks or would this have to removed every time I have to smog the truck?

It isn’t legal but extremely unlikely to be noticed during the visual check. The OBDII scanner will definitely not detect it.

Just get one in black or silver so it blends in even better

    Gio,
Very much interested in adding the spacer and doing the 3 degree cam gear mod at the same time (got the gears the other day). You mentioned you did the cam gear mod first and the spacer mod later. I finished all 103 pages of that thread and all 30 for this one. Aside from the improved torque and shifting, many said they saw an increase in MPG with the cam gear mod. Did you notice any improvement in your mpg before doing the spacer mod? Do you think that doing both of these mods together compliment each other or would doing both negate any aspects of the other? I also have the AFE cold air intake so would need to mod it for the spacer (glad OP addressed that issue) and a throttle body spacer. Lots of questionable aspects of the throttle body spacer and considering removing it. What would be your take on that?

Can you move to Huntsville, AL? Like all the good reviews of your installs on the cam gears.

Not who your asking, but I have some info. I did both mods together. Then I wasn’t sure what did what you know. So I pulled the spacer for a short while. Definitely lost some acceleration, MPG stayed about the same. Truck just felt a hair more sluggish than with the spacer, so I put it back in. I do recommend doing them both at the same time since the plenum comes out to get to the gears anyway.

How significant was it once you put the spacer back in compared to when you took it off (mpg and acceleration (top end, low end))?

Thanks for the info. Definitely only want to take all this apart one time. Maybe check valve clearances while it is apart and of course MAF and throttle body cleaning.

matter taking it out it felt sluggish at the top end of the gears, especially while driving up inclines. Feels much better with it back in. Don’t recall tracking the MPG specifically but pretty sure it stayed the same more or less. Nothing significant in either direction.

As long as you stay organized it’s not bad, just time consuming

Curious to this as well. Has anyone running this actually smogged their truck with it?
