I still like the ATH and 4X rear bumpers for the 3rd gen. Even the SR5 with the SX blackout package has a chrome bumper, I have seen some SXs with chrome badges. Toyota specifically says blackout badging is part of the SX package.

I’m surprised if the Trails are getting the tech stuff before the ORs do. They weren’t intended to be a higher trim level than the ORs.

The next model will be a completely different animal with serious markup over msrp, and the likelihood of finding exactly what you’re after even less likely. Even first years of third gen had some issues that took several years to resolve, so Id decide on that first, V6 or turbo 4. I never got the taco I would have ordered and waited for, but had a perfectly beautiful Silver Sky SR and DEFINITELY never would have ordered a Red OR, but if I didn’t take what I could get would still be waiting and paying more for that Magnetic Gray SR or the Wind Chill Pearl Limited I had originally contacted dealer about…. There is a reason these trucks never come exactly like you would prefer, but if u want brand new might have to prioritize packages over colors, etc…. FWIW, put two years and 28K on silver sky, although not typical, got what I paid for it, less tax, same local dealer. No tech package, but have come to like the chrome, they are just plastic after all, never would paid for blackout trim, but thank God it came with that, so there’s that, sometimes you can be blessed with being a little more flexible, especially as these rigs are approaching what domestic full size trucks can be had for less- good luck Titan, let us know how it works out.

Every trail has the tech package I’ve come across it’s reserved for that trim with the chip shortages. Trails are also the most available I’ve come across too so it is a weird move by Toyota, it’s a very specific look with bronze.

The Trail Edition is more expensive than a base Off Road/Sport, so it probably has an even higher profit margin.

I have been looking for trd sport/ pro 4x4 could not find one in black or sky blue. the trail edition with tech package in Magnetic Gray. Will pay just north of 40k for '23 don't know if over paying. But will not touch the matador red, even if it were to cost less. Will mod the truck to add features like fog lights and running boards. BTW are those storage bins in the bed removable?

Assuming they didn’t change the design the Trail Edition bed storage bins are easily removed. There are YouTube videos on it.

I bought my 23 OR 4x4 about a month ago. They aren’t offering basic tech package anymore; the BSM, color matched rear bumper inserts, parking sonar… it’s only available in the premium tech package. It’s ok. I can deal without it. Bought some bumpershellz to cover the plastic chrome bumper.

Sweet congrats, what does the button layout look like just empty plates where those buttons go or is it a different layout for less buttons? I’m sure I’ll get over it just feels like a rip since it was pretty much on every truck since 2016 and they are only giving you one key now too. I did just find one advertised at another dealership not far away going to call them tomorrow and see if it’s real or not it’s in lunar rock though and indecisively I’m between that and white.

I found a Sport with the advanced tech package and nothing else which is exactly what I wanted. Had to search the entire state but found one just a couple hours away. It's scheduled to be built next week and will hopefully be here before the end of the year.

One sales guy I was talking to said it would be a hard combo to find b/c only 7% of Sports are being produced with the advanced tech package. Found mine later that day at another dealership.

good catch/callout on this, base trail was 5k less last year, explaining their option strategy…. It’s an SR5 with about 1K extra in TM’s supplier invoice cost, no MTS, (why no pitch/roll on the TRAIL?) a nice truck though, at least got the locking rear! They saved so much ¥ by eliminating the Qi charging, and Bilstein; you get better wheels as a result! Wheel jealousy here

I have a base OR (2020). DCSB V6/Auto 4X4. No tech or premium packages. I would have liked the JBL upgrade but it's not a big deal.
I tinted the 2 front windows and installed a BakFlip G2 tonneau cover. I'm more than happy with the truck.

I have a 22 Sport I picked up in July with basic tech package, and LED headlights.
I love my rear cross traffic alert. As well as lane departure, and blind spot monitor.
It works great when backing out of a parking stall.
Hold out and get what you want. I waited 10 months for my truck.

Im with you. I wanted as basic as possible. Specifically NO tech package.

Get what you want OP, but Im wondering if you really even want a Taco if something as trivial as not having blind spot monitoring has you running to the hills...

It’s peace of mind. 2023 and they strip basic features that have been standard in this trim and the industry. Bsm is whatever I have mirrors and track awareness of traffic but Rcta is something I do like for added alert in these shrunken parking lots that are the new norm. Some thought backup cameras were trivial (I was one of them) or even push button start but absolutely no way I’m buying a vehicle without those features now. I’d argue heated seats and leather seats are basic too but we won’t get into that :)

I will say one thing I will be happy with is worry free no sensors having problems/dirty/replaced and easy bumper modification if I do.
