You could always have matching phone, car, and unmentionables.

So you're saying the 4th gen tacoma is going to have both powertrains currently offered on the 3rd gen Tacoma? 2gr-fks and 2tr-fe plus the 2 new ones, 4 total?

Edit: Or did you mean 1gr-fe when you said gr v6?

The anemic feel everyone complains about I think has to do more with the transmission (2 overdrive gears) compared to engine. But I agree with you. My main concern is long term reliability.

I'm pretty sure he means the 3.5 2gr-fks in the 3rd gen tacoma.

No, the engine is slow as balls even with the better transmission. It’s pretty anemic until it comes “on cam” at 3500rpm or so

It's a combo of the both for sure but the truck makes so little torque down low the transmission chokes it out.

I wouldnt be concerned about reliability. So long as you maintain it you'll be fine. The people that have issues are the ones to tune them then beat the hell out of them without upgrading cooling.

I really hope they have a PHEV version. Whichever gets there first (I am willing to bet it is Jeep) will be my next truck.

I can’t see them making it more off road. They didn’t even put tow hooks on the Tundra TRD Pro ‍♂️

Why do you like PHEV so much? If I have a hybrid I'd rather have a regular one similar to what is used in the tundra.

It's the best blend between gas and electric if you ask me. Decent EV range (the Wrangler 4xe gets almost 50 miles of electric range) while offering more power. If it has 40-50 miles of ev only range, I would rarely need to buy gas as 95% of my driving is in a 10-15 miles radius.

Jeep has confirmed the 4xe Gladiator for 2024. Ford is rumored to put one in the Ranger but the new new ranger is well, ugly. Would love a Toyota because they know hybrids very well BUT Jeep is honestly killing it with the 4xe and it has been a great powertrain.

Edit - range is 20-21 electric only

TFL did a test on the 4Xe and it only went a few miles off road on the battery, like 3-4 miles. Then when you are driving on gas, it's MPG is terrible. Look into it, after the 30 mile of electric on road driving, you are lugging around a big heave battery.

With that being said, who would have ever thought that they would see a $100k+ Jeep? I mean, c’mon. I know it’s the Grand Wagoneer and all but seriously, $109k BEFORE options!? Leaves little hope for where things may go with new hybrid tech being added to Tacomas.

What was the initial sticker price of the OG Prius? Anyone remember?

Wrangler gets 17-19 miles where did you find the 50? Also it costs a full 10k more than a 3.6 powered one… that buys a life time or 2 of gas savings not to mention the hybrid powertrain will be less reliable

24 years of driving only gassers I have never had a drivetrain problem. I can't recall ever having any thing go wrong beyond a dead battery.

    That's what it's rated at, at least I thought.regsrdless, 20-25 is fine. Don't forget there's a $7500 tax credit.

Gas savings is nice but it's moreso just the fact that it reduces the amount of times I have to go to the pump.

Edit: you're right, it is 21. I read a bad article when I search on it. Whoops.

It isn’t rated at that. You also need to drop 1k on an at home charger if you wanted to do it right.

And that’s on mall tires in the Sahara. Most get about 17-9 miles. And it’s slow as balls on ev only. I suggest doing some research on the serious limitations of these vehicles before committing
