I don’t really see and difference between that and a hose clamp it’s just a torx

^^THIS RIGHT HERE^^ A hose clamp with the bolt facing down would be best and as good as anything else!

Hose clamp doesn’t come close....I’ve had both.
@christian06 anti theft bracket is hands down a better option. The hose clamp doesn’t fit “square” on the hinge and it tends to slip because of the hinge’s tapered shape.A hose clamp is also easily broken using a hammer and screw driver....yeah, it’ll slow down a tweaker though.

I also stripped out my factory torx bolt but ended up drilling it out (very easy) and installing a stainless bolt and backing it up with double nyloc nuts. It’d take a long time pulling off the tailgate cover to get that bolt off.

Challenge excepted lol. Yeah I don’t think anyone is getting that shit off.

Generally thieves want to hit quick and move on. Just locking the tailgate will discourage most. Add another layer, such as a hose clamp and the odds are you’re good.

But if it makes you feel better, or you are forgetful the various aftermarket parts might keep you happy.

It’s your money, waste it as you will.

You can also buy a hose clamp whit a rubber protection, that would prevent from sliding as you stated. However, my friend has one for years without any problems of sliding off etc. Regardless, if someone is going to steal your tailgate and has a hammer and a screw, he probably will also have a torque wrench for your tailgate bolt as well.

Agree 100%. I bought a keyed hose clamp as I didn’t want to mess with the factory torx bolt after reading some of the horror stories on here. Upon installing the hose clamp, I felt it was a bit too easy for me to get it to slip off. I ended up removing it and installing @christian06 anti-theft device. Super easy install and very happy with his product.

I pay about $1000 per year for insurance, and that's what it's for. The hose clamp is good enough for the girls I go out with.

How did you install that? I can’t seem to make it fit around the hinge. The metal is too thick

The metal is the same as the last few hundred sold, they are all test fitted by me personally before they go out. You have to be gentle and not force it, once you find the right spot, it practically falls on by itself. You may have a glob of sealant in there, if you don't want to knock it out, I will give you a full refund if you choose, thx again my friend.

its a thing , and people always say lock it but sometimes when you have a lot going on sometimes you forget. Im just a little bit agro because it take ten seconds or less for thieves to take it

I was able to fit it, but I had to force it pretty hard under the hinge.

I’m having the same issue. Is there a video somewhere I can consult to make sure I’m just not doing it incorrectly?
