    Wow!

    I went from 7.0 on May 23rd 2022 to 8.0 two weeks later to 8.0 with Gear Lock on Sep 18th.

    And now...9.0 is out?

    I'm amazed.

    We haven't done anything like that to date, though I can see the value in that for folks. I appreciate the inquiry.

    We'll certainly look into how we can educate our clients on what changes they can expect. If you ever want to discuss things in a bit more detail, we're always happy to chat. Email us at info@overlandtailor.com and we can start some dialog.

    You came on board just after we collected the data we needed to roll out the update from 7.0 to 8 so there was little time in-between. We are always working to refine our offering, and while we're not big on tune names, numbers, and symbols, we do use them internally to keep track of things. Generally speaking they're not really for the public, but it's not secret or classified info by any stretch. We prefer to keep all of our tunes to be known as "OTT" but its understood the the numbers/names/etc. help identify specifically what is being discussed.

    Lets get you on the latest!

    I believe it could be done. But if you're serious about something like that, I hope you're planning a forged rotating assembly! :) At the power levels something like that would be capable of, I'd also really recommend running a standalone (MoTeC being my preference) in parallel w/ the OE ECU. This would leave the throttle body and trans control functions to the OE ECU, and give Fueling, Ignition, and VVT (and others) to the aftermarket EFI system that will not have the limitations of the OE ECU. If your serious, we're versed in Haltech and MoTeC systems.

    @JustDSM

    Thanks for the info on data collection.

    I do like the version names/releases...the general public can/does identify with numbers when it comes to "latest & greatest". lol

    Allan is a very busy guy so when he does Delaware meet-ups, we migrate to him up in northern Delaware!

    It's the Holiday Season and everyone is busy...plus, I'm still enjoying my latest tune from Sept 18 so I'm in no rush.

    My wife braces herself in the passenger seat when I launch my Sport! She's not a fan of immediate speed but she knows I like the tune.

    Not at all a stupid question! There's nothing wrong with "8.0", we just spiced it up a bit in the midrange across both manual and auto platforms. The real "change" to 9.0 was a complete rework of the manual throttle control. It's more consistent with our other offerings (specifically our auto). We find that most folks are choosing our Mild/Medium auto offerings which puts them pretty much in the middle of our offerings which is ideal. We wanted our middle offering to roughly fall in line with the peak of the bell curve, and we were pretty close across our offerings in nailing that target. We definitely missed the mark with the 3G manual in our earlier versions of our tune. 9.0's primary purpose was to address that. We restructured and rescaled our MT throttle settings and I think we're pretty close to target with the new settings; Time will tell..

    We rolled 9.0 out around the 1st of the month. We've got a potential incremental update in the works for 9.0 that will focus on improved transmission performance but we're putting some additional miles on it before making that available.

    Ok, cool then. As it stands I'm pretty pleased with the 8.0 on my auto truck so I shouldn't have to be kicking down my tuners door to get an upgrade. When the "9.1" so to speak gets dropped maybe I'll reach out at that point so I can take advantage of whatever refinements it brings with it. Thanks for filling me in! :)

    How much does the OTT tune (or any tune really) potentially raise trans temps and what is considered normal? Also, will the instrument cluster tell me if trans or coolant temps get too high?

    I am getting this tune next week and was thinking of doing mild/medium - did you find it too jumpy ?

    @TacoRancher

    It was sensitive/reactive to my foot after a day or two of normal driving. (Mild/Med)

    I was tested-launching it immediately after install and it was great for that.

    But I don't always drive with a heavy foot.

    Now, with Lite/Mild and Gear Lock (8.0), I am at my Happy Spot.

    My truck is OEM with not lift or large tires.

    Building out my truck this winter to 33s, full steel armour, roof top tent, and bed rack.

    that being said, what’s the experience like when towing with this tune? I tow 4000lbs semi regularly.

    I towed my little 14ft Aluminum fishing boat which is fairly light and don't even notice it is back there but it is probably only around 1000lbs soaking wet. If you regularly tow 4k with the stock calibration, you will likely notice it will have to downshift into 3rd much less frequently and it should hold the gear for longer before upshifting after flashing the OTT calibration. The 4-3-4 hunting should be less frequent as well.

    Sounds like you will be way over payload after the armor and bed rack and tongue weight of the 4000lb trailer. If it starts to feel too pokey, you might look into a regear as well.

    Yeah I’m aware of the payload issue lol. I should mention I have the OG OVtune right now.I’m still getting the 4-3-4 hunt a lot, so I guess I may just do this tune + 4.88/5.29s.

    The intake spacer would be a good fit for our tune depending on your intended use. If you're want more low end torque, the spacer (longer runner length) will change the resonant frequency of the intake to make torque at lower RPM. The spacer will essentially shift the entire powerband to the left (lower RPM). As a result of the longer runners, the higher RPM power will be sacrificed to some degree. Depending on how you drive and where you're looking to improve output will be the determining factor of whether or not this will be a good modification for you or not.

    Personally, there is some merit to adding runner length on the 2GR-FKS truck applications. It certainly needs all the help it can get with low end torque. Our tune specifically addresses the calibration limitations Toyota left behind to bring out what torque is available. But the spacer will augment that further by changing the intake resonant frequency.
