Definitely ask. Like the other guy said worst they can do is say no. I would just send the salesman a picture and see if they won’t just send you one. Not likely, but again worth a try. Super easy to take on and off. It just pops right off.

This kinda makes some sense to me, but why is the accessory already listed on the allocation details before the truck is even built?

If they do say no, then you could politely ask them if they think you might get a better response from Toyota corporate customer service. I’ve had to do that. Corporate has a little more leeway.

Allocations come from the port. Only the port can see or communicate with the factory. Dealers can only communicate with their port. So if the port already decided to option a certain number of trucks with accessories, then that's what they have to allocate, and there's nothing the end user can do except buy it or not.

3rd option. Toss the OEM tonneau cover and bed caps and get a real tonneau cover.......:crapstorm:

The dealer can ask the port not to put some of the extras on there. Probably not something they generally like to do but it’s possible. They did it for me when I bought my last truck.

I was going to state you have nothing to lose by asking, you already don't have redress from the dealer, and you never will unless you ask.
What is the worst that can happen?
I was taught early: "There's already sufficient people in the world who will tell you 'NO', so, you don't have to be one of them!"
    But then, this:

On the Tulsa king show Stallone said the answer is always no until you ask. I kinda liked that.

My dealer offered to transfer my softopper from my old truck to my new as part of the trade deal (along with a few other parts). In the process they put a good three inch scratch in the paint, on the passenger fender.

My dumb ass didn't notice it until a week later. :anonymous:
I decided to let it go and not even complain about it. It's a truck, it's gonna get scratched and dinged. And 4 years later, oh yeah, it got beat and then some. Still, to this day I'm supremely pissed that I wasn't the one that got to draw first blood.

Also, how long have you had the truck. I say within a week of being new, you'd have a shot at warranty.

    That's a tough one.

If it were me (and it was), I'd let it go and forever be mad that I wasn't the one that drew first blood on my own truck. Basically if it isn't caught before you drive it off the lot, then it's up to their good graces whether they'll fix it or not.

It's especially hard because the rail caps are integrated into the composite bed itself (from what I can see, I don't know), so fixing it would involve a full bed replacement and then cutting it all over again for your tonneau.

You might be able to smooth out with a heat gun or put aftermarket caps over the rails to hide it.

Good to know. My topper covers my rails, but this is handy for future reference. Thanks.
