Shock question- 5100, 5125 or 5150?

I have a 2006 double cab with a 2" Toytec aal. I still have the stock shocks on the rear and I am looking to replace them. I have read about Bilstein 5100, 5125 and 5150. I don't really do much off-roading but I am obviously looking for a better ride from the rear. Looking for recommendations for rear shocks.

 

The 5100s will fit up to a 2" lift. So you should be ok with them. Don't know too much about the other models...

Longhorn Taco- How do you like the Toytec coilovers? What kind of lift to you have in the rear?

 

I really like them so far, but have only had them on for about a month or so and haven't done any offroading yet.

No lift in the rear yet. I have the rear 5100s and a 2" AAL, but haven't decided if I'm going to lift the rear at all. Right now, all I have are the rear TSB springs. I'm going to at least put on the 5100s, just not sure about the AAL yet. Right now, it's sitting almost level and I think 2" is just going to be too much. THought about selling the AAL and trying to get a smaller one.

 

Did you install the 5100's in the rear? How high do you have your front coilovers set at? I have the same size tires in the front, how much rub do you have, if any?

 

No, I haven't put them on in the rear. My dad and I are going to do it when I go to Texas for Christmas.

The front is set to just over 3". Now that the springs have settled a little bit and I put on the spacers, I rub the fenders just a little bit when turning in reverse. Just haven't taken the time to trim them yet...

 

I'm stuck choosing between the 5100's and the 5125's for the rear. Are they the same shock but the 5125's are a little longer?

 

I just had my toytec AAL's put on last week with 5100's. Rides stiffer then before but otherwise rides great!!!

 

Any reason you didn't use 5125's instead of 5100's? Can't find an explanation of the difference. Toytec sells the 5125's. A lot of people with the rear aal are using both 5100's or the 5125's.

 

I went with the 5100's all the way around and the toytec TSB AAL. I went with the rear 5100's because i bought the the kit from DSMS on ebay $269.00. Pretty much i liked the price a heard good reviews from people on TW. My truck rides great (stiff) which i like, it corners so much better.

 

5125s aren't height adjustable like the 5100s. I have the 5125s on my rear and they're OK, but I prefer the OME rear shocks.

 

I'm just looking for rear shocks because I have the 2" aal from Toytec. I am going to change the front to Icon co's with TC uca's. Aren't the 5125's just longer that the 5100's? The 5100's aren't adjustable in the rear, correct?

 

Correct. 5100s are only adjustable for the front up to 2.5 inchs. I went with the 5100s because of word-of-mouth and good reviews on them. I also got mine from DSMS on ebay for $259.

 

I just looking at the rear shocks and I am also looking at DSMS. Can't find an answer as to the difference with the rear shocks between the 5100's and the 5125's.

 

Yeah I'm not to sure either. I don't have anything bad to say about the 5100's but I understand you want to know the difference between the two before you purchase them. Have you tried Googleing it?
