I had this problem back in October and never did figure out what it was. Replaced the alternator and it still did it. I have a short somewhere in the body wiring that I havent found yet. No longer have radio, dome lights and the odometer resets itself every start despite the fuses being good. Voltage is fine now however...

Wheelers sells these parts. But you'll have to wait for shipping.

4600 were stock on the Tacoma so might be you're replacing some aftermarket stuff out on by the PO

Man that sucks! TG bought up inchworm and inchworm made a pretty sweet adapter for the speedo, sucks that TG does what TG does best which is takes good products and makes them cheap piles of shit.

Saying that TG makes, or made, the best bang for the buck sliders out there....

The Land Cruiser ones screw into the cable port like the TG ones, and they're cheaper in the generic forms on ebay, but here's an OEM one

I find it outrageously funny when people pay 10 buck for an item that will normally will cost 100+

I thought you mention you have a channel? Why not built a crawl box vs buying a fully assembled unit? Learn how everthing piece together and create "your" video while you learn... Plus, it's cheaper and you can use better MC 4.7 gears with totaled input spline. :amen:

Yep, exactly why I went OEM on this one. I ordered the MC because they're in the same state and it'd be here the next day. Wanted the truck to move and the partsouq was at best a week out.

Hell, the majority of everything I've done on the truck is OEM. One exception - those inner ties and while they are still holding up fine as far as I can tell, if I had to again they too would be OEM.

I don't but if you pull up your VIN on most part sites, you should be able to drill down until you locate it.

stock shock diameter is ~1.5", 4600s are 1.95" (same as the 5100s). 4600s are advertised as factory ride quality, but they're bigger. I should be able to get the coil seats, boots, and top nuts from a set of 5100s, or 4600s, but the stock stuff won't fit (maybe the boots would).
Do you have a link, or is that something I'll have to call them about? Waiting for shipping would be totally fine. I'm in no rush.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Considering the part in question is being used in a conversion from a 2wd vehicle to a 4wd vehicle, and converting a manual speedo to an electric speedo, and the only part that actually specifies that it does those conversions is Trail Gear or Marlin part... there's a reason why people use them.

It's not like you can just look up an OEM part for that.

Hopefully @Area51Runner figures it out and comes up with a better solution. But I've never seen anyone really drill into finding a best solution for it. It's just been one of those things you deal with on a swap with an older Tcase, on a newer truck.

If I'm remembering correctly, my 98 PreRunner came stock with Bilstein 4600s. When I bought my 02, they had switched to the blue tokiko shocks.

I did just show an OEM part that does that though, it's harder to look up maybe but you'd be surprised how much you can turn up from other models that will be compatible and solve the issue.

That one definitely looks like its compatible. Smaller footprint as well.

I may order one of those copycats off Amazon just to check it out.

My new gear from partsouq still hasn't shipped due to their national holiday. The MC adapter is on the truck now and doing what it's supposed to do.

There aren't that many doing first gen conversions now but it would be nice to have some optional routes for the VSS for peeps to take instead of just relying on that chunk of plastic.

Thx for pointing out the LC/Lexus sensor.

No prob, it covers a wide range of toyotas cause they used that screw on speedo cable fitting since the 60s. Saw people use the LC sensor on old celicas when they put aftermarket fuel injection in em

Lmao... don't I remember you saying that buying fully assembled was "less stressed and according to plan" when we were talking about an axle?

I probably already don't have enough time to do everything I need to do. I wouldn't say building a crawl box myself would necessarily be that much cheaper anyway.

And again... not buying from Marlin.

I don't think Trail Gear bought Inchworm... I think Marlin did.

At least Marlin claims to be "the sole supplier of Inchworm products" all over their page.

Someone with a 2002 Tacoma and a 1996 Transfer case will not come up with that item in a parts search for either of those vehicles is what I'm saying.

I already know it comes up for OTHER vehicles... as a matter of fact I said that a couple days ago. In fact, the Trail Gear part cross references to a vehicle that isn't even Toyota where you'd effectively be able to get an OEM part from an entirely different manufacturer.
