Over msrp in anything but a pro is insane. You could get 10 percent off pre pandemic on almost all models. Here in AZ pros were around 5k over before this nonsense. Lucked out and got one at msrp manual at Avondale in March 2021 but they never mark up. They didn’t even realize they had it because it was when they made the switch to Mexico they kept putting off-road stickers on the side.

Sale pending on all trd or 4x4/pro tacoma's at Avondale's website except for one white one. Not buying contractor edition white. :puke:

Any luck with a 2023 Type R? Curious to see the markup on those. I may see where prices are in 2024. Sold my 18 last year!

You sold at a good time because older models are taking a beating. I was looking at a 2021 yellow limited type r at Chapman that they listed for 58k the day after the new one arrived at dealers here they dropped it to 43k it had 3k miles. Dealers around here are getting 20k over at least on the first batch of 2023’s. I checked all dealers here in town cheapest was 10k over at Earnhardt but they low balled me 10k on my trade so basically 20k everyone else arrowhead, showcase 20k and 25k and they were getting it.

Yes, I sold in the summer of 2021 and got very close to what I paid. I will never pay that kind of markup and am willing to be patient. I probably won’t get another Type R, but loved my 2018.

I had a similar experience with an Audi dealer last year. Everyone was getting MSRP or better, but my trusted dealer offered us a $500 discount for being loyal customers. My mistake for giving another dealer a shot at it- I had struck up a conversation with a sales kid while getting wipers at dealer #2. So I call the kid and tell him and he says, "No way are you getting a $500 discount right now." I said, "OK no problem, thanks for your time." and he said, "No, I'm telling you that I don't believe you. If you prove it to me, I'll match it." I said, "Why the hell would I give you the privilege of selling me a car after you insisted on 7% over MSRP and then called me a liar?" "Well we are a bigger dealer and have excellent service." "I'm gonna stick with the guy who has always treated us well." and hung up.

Back when I sold cars if we wanted to earn a sale over a competitor we had to be both competitive and professional. It never would have occurred to me to insult buyers.

Just bought a 2023 Pro automatic in Solar Octane.....Only option was the Toyoguard for $699 and the paint upcharge of $425. Dealer picked me up at the airport. When I arrived at the dealership my Tacoma was sitting in the showroom with a sold tag and my name. It took the salesman longer to drive it to get a full tank of gas than it did to sign the paperwork. Not an ounce of up sale, they didn't try to sale me anything besides the truck at the agreed upon price. I can't say enough good things about Cory and Hall Toyota of Elizbeth City NC. I was OTD for just under $56,200

It's important for anyone traveling to buy to get a copy of the purchase agreement so the dealer can't pull any last minute markup BS. Knowing you traveled to get that vehicle puts you in a vulnerable situation and some dealers will pull some rabbits out of the hat last minute. Congrats on your truck - how you liking that color?

Was the last month of the good old days looking at the photo I remember these were on the back overflow lot lined up. The dealer sold 1200 cars that month. This is a rare photo lol.

Love the color…. It sparkles like a new bass boat in the sunlight.

I had this deal already worked out before I bought the plane ticket. They sent the paperwork next day and I sent the check back same day. I just happened to inquire about at the right time being their end of the month.

Just picked up a 2023 SR V6 4x4 for $1700 off MSRP plus another $500 for the college graduate thing. The price before ttl was $32,650 ($33,150 w/ out the college thing). TRD's are getting discounted even more but I decided I really didn't need all the extras. I was looking for just v6 4x4 with zero options and was happy that I found one.

Tundra's were up to $3k off also.
