Your second article from the law office is true physics. 43 mph is max because of decel G's. That is straight up hitting something like a few cows lol. I think some of the misunderstanding is the definition of head on. This means no angles, no hitting something else. Again, there is a reason crash testing stops at 40 mph. That's because you don't survive past that in a straight up 45 mph collision against a concrete wall.

I don't believe anyone except the crash test data. Sorry, people in crashes is not the same as lab tests. They hit brakes, they steer, they swerve, they think things that don't happen. Just look at crash tests for real data.

 

You guys think what you want. At 120 head on, your body is jelly and you die. At 50 mph head on, you die. If you scrub speed by hitting at an angle or something else, you have a chance. Head on, no chance.

Elk running, at an angle, didn't "go over" the truck, peeled back the hood and SIDE of truck... Because it rolled around the side as it pushed the hood back... Technically the truck "went under" the elk. I NEVER stated it was head on, that was an argument YOU were engaged in... I was simply sharing the extent to which these trucks can take on a tremendous impact...

 

The crash test data says the elk went over the truck. Therefore you’re wrong.

*Update*
Talked to INS. Going to go with the shop they recommend. Appointment Jan 10 to drop off. Every other shop around me is booked until Late Spring/Summer. I'm going to get it restored back. Then next upgrade will be the suspension, since that will be some money put into it. Take a while for that. After that I'll probably work on replacing the bumper. Just have to keep watch cause deer running in our area is always happening. Just glad it happened to me and not my 16-year-old daughter who just started driving.
