I like the control of a manual, especially on the 3rd gen which seems to be constantly gear searching on the auto.

    Manual is a lost art

Besides the fact that I enjoy shifting (and choosing) my own gears, I also find that it makes me a more aware and attentive driver, and less prone to being distracted by other stuff.
I see driving as more than utilitarian, and I appreciate those things that help make me better at it.

What you said, plus, I absolutely hate feeling like a passenger when sitting in the front left seat of my own freakin' car.

Well put. I read an article about how all of the new safety technology that is incorporated in today's cars hasn't resulted in safer driving. The author suggested getting rid of automatic transmissions, lane departure warnings, electronic stability controls, and a host of other similar features that facilitate our ability to be distracted by things other than driving the d**n car.

I've said for years, that the easier/nicer you make things for people, the dumber and more demanding they get - so I can't say that that article surprises me, at all.

I think it’s more the case that you can’t engineer out stupidity or cussedness.

Hey all. New to the Community this is my first post.

I like m/t because I'm adhd and It keeps me busy and it's probably safer than texting.

Really though, it wasn't a deal breaker, the dealership had my Taco unspoken for, and ready to take home. I would have bought it either way, but I do enjoy getting those rpms up a little higher before shifting. It makes fun sounds. I have no regerts.

I think me getting a MT Bronco might be what finally made me sale it. It was by far and away the best transmission I've even had. I have 5 other manual cars right now and the Bronco's trans shifted SOOO smooth. I've owned 7 Samurai's, so I know how to wheel a MT. But after living with the MT of 8000 miles, I missed the auto in my FJC. I think there is a reason the MT are going away. Sorry if this is high jacking a thread, just bored working nights and thought I would post, lol.
