Man, an all electric MT would be the greatest invention since the electric dildo.

    I have a MT for a multitude of reasons. 1.) In the US it's an anti-theft device 2.) I have more control over the truck 3.) Because it's fun 4.) F-U that's why 5.) #4's a joke don't take it so hard...

I have committed myself to a few things in this life and driving a manual transmission always and forever is one of them. Never watching the movie Titanic is a close second.

Also, I like to row my own gears and I don't mean having Toyota's auto trans jerk me all over the place. Although, the Allison transmissions in our vactors and dump trucks made life easy for someone who drove CDL on occasion for a city for years.

It's about the fun of driving:annoyed:

In all seriousness, I would hold on to my truck for as long as possible if there is no manual option... I just injoy it more.

I can’t understand what everyone talks about with the AT Tacoma. Maybe it fits my driving style perfectly, because I don’t have any issues with it at all.

I hate these types of threads.

If you like driving a manual, great, buy one!

If you like driving an automatic, great, buy one!

I test drove manuals and automatics. While I like a good manual, I prefer the AT in a Tacoma. So that’s what I bought. It’s simple.

It's an EV those aren't supposed to be fun to drive. That's what ICE vehicles are for.

I chose a manual because I grew up driving the early 90s ranger m5od and it had a long throws similar to the tacoma not quite as tall but close. It's just more engaging than an auto. Plus the slave is external on the tacoma and the ford was internal. So if it ever goes out it's a easy diy!

Would modern trucks have 10spd manual transmissions if manuals were comon place?

11spd with reverse high and reverse low would be cool.

I started driving when I was 12 years old 1985/1986. My Dad and Grandpa never owned automatics, so I learned on a manual.

First time I drove an automatic, was in High School “drivers Ed” class in 1990. Never personally owned an automatic until 2012. I was doing a ton of driving, and stuck in traffic a lot, so I simply got tired of shifting all the time.

    Fast Forward to July 2022…

Kid (who works for Toyota Dealer): Dad, we have an allocation coming in for a ‘22 TRD-OR, loaded and with leather and 6MT! It would be perfect for you! We’re willing to sell it to you for MSRP, and give you almost full sticker for your ‘21 Tundra Limited. Want to put some money down and reserve it?

Me: You know, I kind of miss driving a manual. I also miss how much fun my ‘18 TRD-OR was, but that AT Trans sucked. Sure, YOLO. Here’s $1,000.

Took delivery of it Oct. 5th. Realized quickly that I really did miss the control available in a manual, and how much better the truck is without a lunatic automatic trans that can’t decide what gear it wants to be in.

I now live just beyond the ‘burbs of a dying rust-belt city, in an area that tries hard not to be rural, but can’t get away from the corn and the cows. I travel a fair amount for work, so my truck either sits in the garage or long term airport parking a fair bit of the time. Perfect environment for me to have a stick-shift to enjoy the hell out of, without wearing out my aging hips and knees.
