First thought was warped rotors, but that’s ruled out by the occurrence when you are not braking.

So something driveline related makes sense. Others pointed out U-joint, I’ll defer to them. I’m still learning about the intricacies of these trucks.

The driveshaft also squeaks when going slow in reverse; I brought this noise to the attention of my mechanic, who found the source, and unfortunately can't do much about it as there's nothing mechanically wrong with the truck.

He didn't seem to think they were bad? I've heard that it's not hard to remove the driveshaft, but how much involved would it be to replace the U-joints? Could this be causing the weird symptoms when the truck is decelerating?

    I agree with @Just_A_Guy and @wilcam47
Sounds like a possible U-joint issue.

Your truck is a single cab. So it shouldn’t be all that hard to replace them.

My mechanic is the type of guy who will put my truck on the lift to pinpoint the exact issue without charging me a cent. Is a bad or worn U-joint easy to find in this manner?

There should be Zerk Fittings on the Driveshaft.

It's a fitting you use to grease.

So grease rather than replace? Will I fuck something up if I wait too long to address this?

You really should grease it every oil change or every other change, but once per year should be sufficient.

I don’t think the 5 lug 2WD trucks got zerks.
They even phased them out on the later 2WD PreRunner trucks.
I could be wrong, but I’m fairly certain the 5lug trucks are non-greasable

Wow, had no idea the 2 wheel drives where different. l know they phased them out of the rear driveshaft of 4x4's in 2017.

So just replace the U-joints? There's two?

Typically in my experience with u-joints.
You’ll see some play at the joint.
Sometimes you can hear them chirp when driving.

Pete sounds like a good guy. I’d ask him what he thinks.
I’d probably change mine if they were making noise, but I can grease mine, and can do mine myself.
So I’m in a different situation.
