Yep, shoot me a DM if you're ready for it.

Did you seal the deal on the rear you were talking about? I've been traveling a lot and haven't kept up here.

Recently upgraded from Radeon 5700 to a 6950XT. VRAM went from 8GB to 16. Finally running ultra-modded skyrim in 4k at a stable 60 fps.

Not familiar with the 5700 but the 6950xt is a beast for sure! Skyrim...man it's been awhile. Can it really look that much better?

Was happy with ny 1080TI I recently got rid of but I wanted a new build. This 3080 is costing me less than $200 out of pocket.

Yeah it doesn't even flinch. I pulled out the 1200w PSU I had bought a few years back and never used to power this beast. It blew up after a day. Manufacturer defect I suppose. RMA replaced. New PSU working like a champ. Was scared I ruined the new GPU but fortunately all my other hardware was safe.

I’m going to run my 1070 into the ground. Still not happy about getting only 5 years out of my 980Ti lol. But I don’t play flight sims or anything intensive… or anything really anymore.

And on the “old” builds topic. Just finished repairing my parent's desktops after they got fried in a thunderstorm. One was an ~09 Dell XPS 8300 with an 1155 socket i7 2700K. Other was a custom i7 3770/1155 socket I built years ago. The Dell’s motherboard smelled burnt and wouldn’t post. Somehow had a spare 1155 Intel branded board with identical everything but front panel connectors. So I repinned the case wires to match. Also had to find a spare Intel stock cooler since the stock Dell heatsinks are proprietary.

The custom build thankfully just had a dead Corsair CX 430W. Topped off both with 32GB of ram and both run the OS off SSDs. They’ll hold up until Windows 10 support ends in 2025. Forced them to get some high end surge protectors too.

High end PSUs have a nice warranty usually. Which is nice.

I didn't plan to run such a card, especially with my small PSU but I'll never be able to push it to it's max so I'm good :anonymous:

You mentioned modded Skyrim; were there any mods to upscale the whole thing? Any updates to the game as a whole? I know some games added RTX and DLSS support up to 3-4 years after their release date which is awesome and really adds replay value.

I would've run Flight Simulator last night but that's when my neighbor came by with the awesome surprise.

I just bought a Lian Li O11-D Evo to put the whole ensemble in. Just waiting on a new MB before making the swap. Currently in a bequiet! mid-tower with ALL the panels removed for airflow, so basically its a janky looking open air rig.

I'm going off the latest SE build. The released an "anniversary edition" but I haven't upgraded. Its not worth it to change my modlist. Currently using M02 with over 1200 mods and over 800 plugins. Based of Lexy's LOTD modlist with other stuff. 4k retextures on everything. Combat ADXP combat framework with smooth animation movesest. Thats a thing that just came out in the mod community during the past year to make the combat more like modern games.

    Fuckin spears man

No RTX support that I know of but don't need it bc of ENB. IF you ain't running ENB at least do a reshade instead of vanilla colors. Really makes the experience visually amazing.

The first vanilla playthrough is always the best. Can never recreate that experience.

also bumped my OC to 4.7, and voltage up in addition. Ran fine all morning, fps jumped on COD benchmark to 74 average lol. Will see if it can handle a full day of testing soon :stirthepot:
