    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
Yeah and it's really just preference at this point.

I have driven the DCT in a BMW M2 and a PDK in a 911. I can understand why some people like them, but despite what some DCT/PDK fans say, after driving them both I still prefer the manual. Both have their own place.

The manual vs autos in a truck forum is also controversial lol.

She told me she was surprised how easy it was. She’s a very smart cookie, but it still isn’t a difficult task.

I’ve taught a few people how, it isn’t that hard once they understand the mechanics.

That something people can get the hang of in minutes is the same as something people spend decades of training to do?

It’s not hard to hit a golf ball either but very few can even break 100. Maybe you should be teaching that instead. There are different levels of what is considered “good enough”. The people that don’t take to it end up buying automatics.

I owned and drove stick or manuals as we called them for over 50 years. When I got my license if you passed with a manual transmission car your license was good for manual or auto. If you only passed with an auto car you weren't allowed to drive a manual. For me I'm past the stage where a stick is "fun". Clutching and shifting? No thanks. My Tacoma and Vette (paddle shift) are both autos and I like it that way and have nothing to prove.

I drive a manual Tacoma because it has the hill assist and clutch cancel start! Also because it keeps my nervous ass in my seat when in traffic.

The bar is pretty low for driving a stick on the street. It’s even part of the driving test in some places (although that’s becoming less common)

minutes, yes if you’re born with the right genetics. I’ve driven in “seasoned” stick shift drivers cars and could have given a few pointers.

Hear, hear, brother! I drive mostly in the city and am too lazy to shift. I might consider a stick if my wife new how to drive one, but... A couple years ago, I had a '64 Valiant with three on the tree which, I do have to admit, was kind of fun. I've had three other older cars with that setup and found it more enjoyable than a floor shift. How's that for old school? (My '68 bug is a four speed, though.)

I gifted my 5spd Subaru to my buddy’s son. When he showed up to take it, he informed me that he didn’t know how to drive a stick. He had a 40 mile trip partially through the city ahead of him. I was like, “oh jeeze what’s wrong with kids today?’”, taught him the basics, and sent him on his way. 1 month later the rear driveshaft broke and took the tranny with it. I had told him to either remove it or replace it, because It was on its way out.

You obviously work in the deep state’s department for automatic transmissions.

Did you know I’ve been driving stick for 40 years?

Haha. Fun when stuff like that blows up predictably.

We had a guy who was hired partly because he claimed he could drive a manual. He burnt a clutch on a brand new truck in a single day . I gave him some reeducation and we never had another problem from him.

If the bar is so low for driving a manual one every automatic should come with a :anonymous: badge. I can see buying an automatic for a variety of reasons but bragging it?. Parallel parking seems to be a skill with a similar short future and apparently backing a trailer is as well. It’s not that these things are foundational to ones self worth but they should at least be up there with tying your shoes.
