Trying to identify power and ground for '22 non JBL radio

    Trying to install an Alpine Power Pack and already made the T-harness using the Red Wolf harness. Pulled out the radio and I can't identify which wires are the power and ground to tap into.

    My multimeter is broken so I figured process of elimination I'd unplug each little harness to see which provided power but I must have had one too many beers but I wasn't able to determine which ones are power/ground. I'm obviously missing something but the radio powered up despite which harness I unplugged!

    I wouldn’t get power and ground from the radio in the 20+ models. It’s not worth all the cutting and splicing and wrecking the factory harness.

    grab a cheap 10awg power kit and run it to the battery. Super easy and cheap

    If you look back behind the radio, there is a big mass of white/black wires going to the same bolt. That is a factory ground

    I tried that spot, a bolt under the pedals and the one the battery itself is grounded to and I'm still getting hissing from the speakers. Music sounds great and the gains aren't turned up. Anything else I should look for?

    Straight from the battery.

    Just had a thought, I may have the input dip switch set to RCA instead of Speaker. I'll give that a go and report back.

    No luck. The amp input settings were fine. In fact I noted no difference in function with either input setting.

    Tried 5 different grounding spots and I even re did a terminal loop. Also shortened the ground cable and ensured the signal wires were apart from the power and ground wires.

    I'm stumped. The hiss is constant and doesn't change with engine speed.
