Re Jeep tanks. I don't know about the 2-door, but on mine it took up the passenger side of the frame. It didn't extend beyond the rear axle. It was long and skinny -ish. The muffler was right behind the rear bumper.

 

The 2 door is in the same location as the 4. Just a smaller tank

 

Go over the dealer. Find the regional office for the Toyota warranty ops. I had that issue with Ford on the Focus transmission when the dealer I bought the car from refused to do anything about the car. Wound up at another dealer after talking to him. The service manager at the original one retired about 6 months later. He had a nasty rep in the reviews.
