Don’t know if I mentioned this but that ranchhand style bumper on my flatbed had some welds fail. Whole thing is booger welded together. I need to redesign how it mounts but absolutely despise the local metal yard.

Would be easier to just buy another bumper or kit. But it will be cheaper to just grind the structural welds down and redo them. I can also lighten it significantly because it has random 1/2” plates that aren’t doing anything in this application.

Certainly is badass. I wish I still had time for that stuff (gaming). The best I can hope for is after the kid is asleep (usually too tired other than to catch a movie) and the hour I'm awake before he wakes up which is strictly coffee time and fantasizing I'm camped out next to a remote river catching a shit ton of fish.

    Cardboard for templates

Cut metal as you get it, out of 3/16" and weld it up yourself!

Ive never done VR but the lure is strong. My concern is A. not being able to see the controls and B. feeling vulnerable with headphones and VR on.

Wish I had something to cut cleaner than an angle grinder but oh well. Still regret not buying that matching Hobart plasma cutter but it’s fine. Best part of this bumper is I don’t have to be scared if it’s not perfect.

I’ll never end up welding that rear bumper for my 04 until my welds improve. I want to be at less on par with the ARB that’s on the front.

Hence why I said maybe out of smaller steel plates that come your way?

Hell, I have plenty I'd give you if you lived nearby...got lots of clean/new steel sitting. Why do you think your welds need improving though?

You flying Orion or what? I'd say that would do it. Now pair that with that gaming chair below. IWR1. lol. Could probably mod it into a rocker for the kiddo when you aren't using it.:rocket::plane:

    This one? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logite...th-backlit-keys-black/6493152.p?skuId=6493152

I got one for work earlier this year. I can't compare it to any other mechanicals, but it seems solid. Especially on sale for $50. Favorite part is the simple white backlighting.

This is the one I was referring to: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logite...backlit-keys-graphite/6502583.p?skuId=6502583
Little more spendy but worth it so far. Decently portable too if you travel.

Well I need cut up this bumper and it’s fairly difficult to get an angle grinder in some of the crevices. Just need to devote an afternoon to it. I’ll get some close ups of the current welds for you at some point. It’s horrifying. Doesn’t have to be perfect which is my issue on the rear bumper for my other truck.

As for purchasing smaller metal pieces. I just need to leave this area/state once I’m done with federal employment probation. Really tired of the good old boy anti-hobbyist attitude with the local metal yard, welding, and hardware shops. Used to think maybe I was just the oddball but military/government employee transplants here agree with me. I’ve had good experiences buying metal in other cities and buying welding supplies at Airgas of all places.
