AJT Issues

Hey guys!

Wanted to gather some input from people that have gotten the steering wheel control trim from @AJT DESIGN. I received mine last week and noticed some imperfections and gaps in comparison to the OEM, even the volume control is rubbing against the trim. I’m not sure if this is normal or not or if anyone has experienced the same issue etc. Below are the pictures in comparison to the OEM. I was exited to get these trim pieces for my steering wheel and provide some positive feedback but not really impressed with the quality control unless I got some faulty ones for Black Friday.

 

Did you bring it to their attention privately before this post?

That’s the reason I came here to see if anyone had this issue as well.

 

Here are some of the imperfections below. I’m not sure if this is part of the molding process or what, but he doesn’t elaborate on the fact. They look like cracks.

 

Adam in the founder of the company. Did you try and submit for a refund or return/exchange?

Mass produced 3D printer parts are never going to be as good factory but I do agree that the fit and finish could be better.

 

I have no idea he is the founder of the company, is my first time purchasing from him. He didn’t provided me with any options.

 

These are injection molded not 3D printed, so should be same quality as factory.
OP, Unless there is play in the mounting of the switch’s, you’ll probably find another set will be just at bad fitment wise. You’ll probably be better off painting your OEM ones if that’s all these are (a color change).

 

There is no play once is screwed to the control panel.

 

What I meant was the initial part is typically 3d printed then molded.

I also recommend painting OEM parts.

 

Why don't I see these cracks in your initial photos? It might be me?

 

You can see the cracks clearly on an angle but you cannot feel them with your fingers in which makes me believe it’s part of the molding process(?) Adam didn’t say much on his response back so not sure what they are. In most cases Black Friday deals its an opportunity for vendors to sell 2nd quality products etc. That’s the reason I’ve asked if people here has the same experience in comparison to the trims he shipped me.

 

Just paint the oem ones and call it a day.

You are going to have to be clear about your expectations with AJT. Let them know you expected a better quality product and you are not happy with what was received. Go from there. If they tell you this is the best they can do and refuse to issue a refund, then by all means come back here and let everyone know.

 

Thats what I did when I sent the email to him, and I also included the same pictures posted here are the same ones he received. He replied back with a simple comment line and didn't offer anything else. I came here to know if people had the same experience etc. Im not sure how much "clearer" I need to be..

 

I think he is saying it right here, he is okay with the way they look, which to me means; your expectations and his are not the same.

Looks like knock off junk to me, but I wouldn't have had an OE quality expectation.

 

Interesting enough the ones that he has on youtube (below) doesn't have those cracks on the bottom of the blank buttons like mine does. I truly believe I got 2nd quality Black Friday deal discount. Again, a great opportunity for vendors to sell 2nd quality product at a discount. Im sure AJT has some great product and most people are happy but thats not my experience. I will end up filing the left trim with a high grid so the volume button don't rub against it and count my loses.

I've ordered a few things from them including a key fob cover and radio knobs. Everything has been fine and good quality, never had a problem.
