Umm, who cares? Toyota ain't going anywhere. EVs are far far away from being legitimately practical.
    1500 units isn't much....

EVs are incredibly practical for a huge number of households. If you have the ability to install a level 2 charger at home, have a multiple car household, and one person has a commute that doesn't exceed the range, not only is it practical, but it makes a ton of sense. Other than being stubborn and unwilling to consider new ideas, many families meet this criteria.

Agreed…a little. I see people buying EVs and justifying it because they will save on gas. If you spend 56k on an EV, you could have bought a used Honda for 15k for your commute. You can buy 20 years of gas for the price difference. I commuted for years in an old 4 cylinder Honda. I think people want the shinny ring and pretend they are making a wise financial choice by saving on gas…but that doesn’t really make sense if you can do 3rd grade math. I’m not anti-EV…I think they are amazing. I just think people are comical acting like this is a wise choice. I bought a new truck-also not a wise financial choice so I don’t try to justify it.

Sure, the concept is practical for people who can charge at home. The problem is, less than 1/3 of people living in the US live in single family houses. The other problem is, the high initial cost over a gas vehicle. Impossible to justify using math at this point in time. If they made electric vehicles exactly like gas vehicles and they would cost exactly as much as gas vehicles, then it is a no brainer for all but the people who live on the road.
But, the electric choices are limited and what is available is expensive compared to gas vehicles.

I am not sure if OP is a young teen or a bored old man - but a serious make shit up / shit poster. I will not put him/she/them/that/abcdefghik... on "ignore," simply because it is entertaining.

After having a prius over 10 years i'd buy a hybrid before an EV. Even toyota doesn't think ev's are ready for us yet.

Buying a fancy expensive EV for the purpose of fuel savings doesn’t make sense unless you were already planning on spending an equal amount of money on a new gas car. If you really want it to save gas money you buy a basic Nissan Leaf or Chevy Bolt for $25k ish.

Funny thread. What started out as click bait, a borderline troll, has turned into a "debate" about EVs.

The OP graduated to Troll status well before he/she/it/them/that/abcdefghik created this thread.

Infrastructure isn't there yet to support EVs. Range is a huge issue. Most electricity used comes from burning fossil fuels. They are expensive. EV truck and SUV production is still extremely low. Only 5000 lightnings delivered so far. 14,000 Rivians. With all the hype about those 2, you'd think there's 10s of thousands on the road.

It's a refreshing change though. Usually posts, I mean threads like this turn into tuning lovefests...

I'm in an EV charging station dead zone and don't see that changing any time soon. I don't think it's profitable for companies to build charging infrastructures along the I95 corridor. Chargers aren't there. There are plenty of Clapped out Escalades though. There are plenty of other transportation options available planes, trains, buses, gas & diesel automobiles.

I don't think EVs are going to be as popular on the east coast as the west coast. There

EV is great until you actually need to drive over 200 miles.

Haa, during this past hurricane our flight from NY to Orlando got canceled. I quickly grabbed a Hertz rental mid-size. When I got there the agent said all I have is a Tesla. I laughed and said I can't make it down to Florida (in a reasonable time) with that. He then upgraded me to the last SUV. Made it to Disney with a few fillups.
    Drive 200miles = 30-45mins a charge...Ugh... not yet for me.
