Deer hunting BS thread

Wasnt much on my game camera cards either

 

Last day in the shotgun zone today.
Did a drive by to 5 areas and only saw 3 vehicles parked.
Last call before the rain I guess.
Very low pressure compared to past seasons.

Think I'll pull the ladder out on my ice cold bow spot Thursday. Lack of acorns changed the patterns in a big way this year.
Back to work next week after goofing off for a full month.
I'll ground hunt with the crossbow a few times before it's over, preferably with some snow cover, that's my favorite.

 

Put a stand up in my back yard yesterday since the deer seem to be hiding down low near the houses

 

Convenient being close to home

 

My saving grace this coming last weekend of the season is that some people will be putting some drives on and hopefully push some bucks out of hiding
It has been one of the worst seasons I can remember in this area.

 

Yes . I can walk out the door and walk up the hill about 500 yards to my stand with a food plot . Or drive 2/10ths of a mile down the road and park at the landowners house and walk about 350 yards to the top of a drainage overlooking thick bedding and escape cover . I usually get a good one down there but there is a POS neighboring land owner who I’m sure sneaks in and pushes the deer out . Real fukkin’scumbag. This asshole just goes where he wants .

 

I get so aggravated. I take my hunting seriously.

In central Virginia we have had a monster crop of acorns this year…. More than I can ever remember.

 

Hi everyone did up some loin this afternoon. Horseradish spices and cheese. My Son and I doing an afternoon hunt tomorrow. Big boys still running but meat is meat. Gonna be a good afternoon and wish us luck!

 

Bill I know your frustrations first hand. We have outlaws on all sides of us. Many set up stands 15 yards from the line. Buck I shot last Saturday I checked his stomach has corn in it. There's no standing corn fields for miles of us. You know what? They can't shoot them all. Stay strong ...

 

Hope I can sleep tonight. Front moving in Friday so tomorrow afternoon will be good.

 

I just use however much tenderloin I have on hand, no matter how big or small. I do adjust the oven time as needed for the thickness, anywhere from 5-10 minutes for med-rare.

That stomach smell is forever etched in my memory. First time you make a bad shot or cut it with a knife, you will always know that smell!
