Helped my dad build a retaining wall at his place. Towed at pretty much my max 5 different times to accomplish it. 3 times had 4400 pounds of retaining wall bricks (plus 2k pound trailer) and two times to the gravel yard. Truck towed it pretty good but for sure felt the weight getting going but wasn't bad after that.

Silly question: Why tow it backwards? is there a reason?

Clearance? Would the approach angle in the rear be better than in the front so you don’t scrape the nose?

Good question, actually! Pulling forward, I can't line the center of balance of the C8 to midline axle of Uhaul AT trailer, so I had to go with backing the car up the trailer to get the tongue weight right. If it's a long enough aluminum trailer, I could pull far forward. Also, the front does have a bit of aero pieces (air deflector by the front wheels) in the bottom that would go over the ratchet strap spools.

We move our share of weight around. After overloading the truck hundreds of times I finally bought a trailer. :woot:

We estimated 3600-3800lbs of oak in the trailer. Weigh Safe said 600lbs tongue weight after some settling. A little squat but never felt bumpstops even over railroad tracks. Airbags on my list (for the last 5 years). Not really sure why so many people complain about Tacomas towing. Didn't feel much different than my 5.7 Tundra with 10k behind it. Pulled similar rpm, too.

Okay, okay, if it’s too lame, let me know. But I was mildly impressed at what a good furniture hauler this thing turned out to be. We got the couch and chairs inside just before a snowstorm.
