Edit: People keep asking why Ive had my wheels off twice with only 361 miles on the clock... Mods... wheels and tires and yesterday Eibach Stage 2

I have been driving since the late 80s and I have never ever broken a lug stud from simply tightening the wheel back onto the hub with a torque wrench at the proper torque spec.

This is only the second time these Wheels have been off and when I tightened them down today and two Lug studs popped like 8 mm bolts.

    anyone else have this issue?

I always tighten to the torque specifications. Today is the first day I’ve ever ever had this happen to me.

They broke so easy it’s got me wondering if they are defective.

please share any thoughts, insight, etc.

    Oh look, another mod....

Here's how you fix it: Glue that fucker back into place, then sell the truck! Easy Peasy.

    JK. That does suck.

Wow if you’re torquing them down, that is strange. Had you not said that, I would’ve jumped all over it, thinking you were just measuring three ugaduggas on the impact.

I don’t blame you for questioning the rest of them. I had a dipshit over tighten lugs nuts on my Eagle Talon (yeah baby, TSi!!) a hundred years ago, and we had to get a torch behind the wheel to pop em off. Of course my buddy that’s the tech already had me pick up all new studs, since he said there’s a chance they were all installed the same way and could be stretched.

Maybe overtightened from the factory, or maybe your torque wrench is off. The fact that 2 of them broke makes me think some overtighening occurred. Has anybody other than you put the wheels on?

Don't over think it. Sometimes, you get a bad part. Doesn't mean the entire truck is bad or faulty. But I'd ask the dealership to:

    1) Fix it for you.
    2) Swap out all the lug nuts on all the wheels, just in case.

Are you sure you have the spec right? What did you torque them to? The spec is 83 ft/lb.

Not by hand but prob in a Vice. Just haven’t tried yet. I’ve got prob 70 oem Toyota lug nuts because usually I don’t put oem wheels on…. But I did this time.
