My motor finally gave out at 340k

I have a motor from a 4.0 tundra and I’m wondering what other parts I need to swap it or if it will work easily. Never swapped a motor and I appreciate all advice thanks

I’m not sure the year but I found that it does have different manifolds and air intake… could using manifolds and intake from a tundra work if I fabricate my own exhaust or would I have to swap or tune the ecu since they aren’t exactly the same? As far as I can tell everything else on the engine is the same as the Tacoma 1GR

The extra parts are likely the secondary air injection which does have different or shifts some things. If so you will likely need different manifolds like you said or get a later 2nd Gen. Setup.

If it has a different intake manifold you likely have the dual vvti 1gr motor (post a pic). If so, you wont be able to swap it.

If the it is a 2010+ 4.0 with Dual VVT-I it will not work.
If it a 05-06 1st Gen Tundra or 07-09 Tundra with Single VVT-I it should work. I installed a 08 FJ Cruiser 4.0 into my 05 Tundra and only needed to swap oil pans.
