255/80/17 and 255/85/16 are basically 33's and can fit pretty easily. With 285's, the width is the problem not the height. The 255's can fit without any lift. To fit 285's, you'll most likely need a cab mount chop (not as big of a deal as some think) and trim some plastic. Wheel offset plays a big role in how well they'll fit.

Why buy a new pro and then change the suspension though? The suspension is the biggest upgrade of the pro.

I wasn't going to change the suspension, here is what I was thinking about using to lift the truck a little

I was trying to find out if I would have to cut the fenders and bumper.

Fair enough, I'm not familiar with that kit. How does it lift the truck if it's not spacers and doesn't change the factory coilover? Either way, check out the 255's. They are a full 33" and won't require any bumper cutting.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I’d put the 285s on, others with Pros have run 285s stock. With your lift if you do rub it will be very minor. A good wheel alignment at an offroad shop helps.
Your Trd pro wheel offset is just about perfect for minimal hassle, around 0.
    285s look great on Tacomas.

I've spoken with Eric at Westcott regarding their kit in depth, as well as the new UCAs. They have done a few installs with a few different wheel/tire flavors.

If you want to run 285/75/16 on the OEM 22/23 Pro wheels - You WILL need to run a spacer to clear the new (red anodized) UCAs as mentioned above.

If you want to run 17's with 285/70 - You will need to make sure you have the right backspacing/offset to clear the UCAs, for example SCS Ray 10s fit without a spacer (17x8.5 -10)

** Pizza cutter 255/85/16 will work with the OEM wheels / OEM UCAs **

If you want to wheel your Pro, you are going to rub at full stuff. Depending on your alignment (caster etc.) you may need to remove mudflap and/or trim/modify fender liner near the front bumper. CMC and mild viper cut would make sure you are rub free on the bumpstops at full lock.

If you do not do much more than fire roads, as mentioned above, odds are you will not rub and will not need to modify... Really is a eff around and/to find out deal.

    Hope this helps.

** I have Westcott Collars, RXT Leafs, SSW Raptors 17x9 -12, 285/70 Duratracs waiting in the garage. I'll report back when I find time to get the collars/leafs on etc. **

I'm not sure if you've seen this video but it's a 19 TRD PRO with their lift kit running 285/75R16's, which equals out to 32.8". They claim no rubbing or interference from the body or UCA's, possibly mudflaps IF the alignment is not done correctly. I'm about to pull the trigger on this kit with my 21 PRO and run the same tire. I'll probably get the kit within the next month or two, add the tires after as I'm timing this with the wearing out of the stock wranglers.

It will work on 21 Pros and older. 22's and 23's have the new red UCAs that are a little bigger and will rub

I apologize, I just realized the 22 PRO's and up come with different uca's. This video likely has no correlation with your setup.

Glad to hear that! I bet it took care of some of the 4runners front end tendency of dipping when hitting the brakes.

Are wheel spacers a bad idea?? Will I be going thru wheel bearings and suspension parts with them?

you'll hear arguments from both sides. I've run them in the past and have never had an issue. I think as long as they're on the smaller side (1.25in or less) and are hub centric and properly torqued and regularly checked then you shouldn't run into any issues. I'll be swapping wheels when the time comes though. SCS F5's were on my last taco and I need them back in my life haha
