    neglect, mostly.
had a 99 burgundy (fine! call it purple if you want) jeep grand cherokee as my first ride/only car for the past 4 years. there is a standard jeep wave yes,(especially being in the south), though pretty much only obese black women drive those exact models ive found out.

When I drive my 03 Corvette convertible, the wave is common. Almost all Vettes wave at Vettes. And my Harley, I always give a "wave" or just a hand to the side. That is normal. Even when I had my Jeep Wrangler, I always gave the wave. But for the truck, I have never seen it done and I see so many of Tacomas everyday with all types driving that I just don't think it would be possible to do on a consistent basis.

Not many Tacoma's in my area, I see the highly educated people own Tacoma's, Dodge Dakota is the most popular small pickup around here.
    NO!! I never said that!
No! I didn't say stupid people own Dodge Dakota's!

I own a motorcycle, (well its really a scooter) but its a really fast scooter with a crotch rocket engine, and I know all the motorcycle waves, Harley guys don't wave at me cause I ride a Japanese Scooter, I wave back to Harley's by folding my left hand to look like a gun and pointing it to the side of my head and sticking my tongue out at the same time, at crotch rockets I give them the "low wave" I take my left hand and reach down and almost touch the pavement as I am moving, then there is the chopper, or ape handlebar wave, I take both hands off my handlebars and reach up as high as I can reach and pretend like I am goosing the throttle.

    motorcycle wave expert
    truck wave (not an expert)

I use to drive a vw and almost everywhere I went, I'd exchange thumbs ups. In the Tacoma I usually give a honk and a wave to other tacomas. Most stock Tacos I won't get a response.

As an avid motorcyclist, I will tell you that the motorcycle wave is officially dead. There are just so many bikes on the road these days it gets annoying very quickly. I do not want to come off as aloof or rude, but it has just become a huge PITA, nevermind the "feelings" behind HD guys not waving to the Sport bike guys, and nobody waving to the Dual Sport guys, etc..
I guess that I kind of feel the same way about the Taco wave - there just seems to be far too many out there to even bother, and if they are not on this Forum (who wouldn't be??) they most assuredly will not know what you are waving at.
Around here, the hard core Off Road guys all seem to know each other anyway - I am not one of those guys...

do jeeps wave at jeeps anymore? I think maybe the high rental rate out here killed that a few years ago.

I'm not waving at any tacomas out here. There's something like 4.5 million of them and the population is only cresting 1 million. Be like waving at f150s in texas.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
It doesn't have to be a full on , I just do a two finger raise peace sign kind of thing from the hand that is holding the wheel.

Maybe we should come up with a gang sign that we can flash at each other?
