Those have definitely have been over torqued at sometime.
Back in the 90's I had a MK III Supra and I had a half dozen snap just like you described....like an 6 mm bolt. I replaced all 20 lug studs there was no way I was going to trust them.

You might want to buy an installation tool, they're pretty cheap and it will make it easier.

I've seen all 8 studs sheer off on a couple 1 tons. Some rock crawling and others pulling stock trailers. That is definitely no Bueno.

on the brz/gt86 forums, this has been a recurring issue since 2013.

many swap to ARP wheel studs and never go back. i just ran to autozone and swapped the few that popped.

i dunno, just another experience with a different toyota variant.

google says oem wheel studs are m12x1.5, and about 60mm long.

I got a Lisle installation tool. It didn't fit because there is very little space between the stud and the 108mm hub register. I just used a thick washer and open-ended lugnut with the flat side toward the hub flange. Greased the threads and drew the stud in with an impact, then cleaned off the grease with brake cleaner.

I just bought a pack of 10 wheel studs, Dorman P/N 610266, grade 10.9. Holding up fine after four seasons of wheeling, and I beat on the truck.

I didn’t notice until a couple weeks later when I was adjusting coilovers. I called discount and they didn’t even question it. Told me they had a shop that will fix it (lucked out, it was actually my alignment shop that I go to). Told me to go in and just tell them to send the bill to discount tire, based on that I assume it happens pretty frequently. Also asked me to send them a link of where to buy the replacement lug nuts and they ordered them for me.

To beat the dead horse, Torque specs are usually different wet vs dry
