@Sperrunner got new ball joints on the way, looking to the end of this month to do them and front lift on the slug. no press is needed for the ball joints, correct? iirc they are just held in by the bolts and cauter pin. And i read just the spring re install will be the biggest pain to do

Do yourself a huge favor and buy one of these for releasing the balljoint studs from their tapers. Oh and wear some safety equip when you use it, when the BJ pops loose the tool takes flight haha

Where ya driving? Also is diesel coming down there at all, normal non-truckstop stations here have been stuck at 4.99 for a while when regular unleaded has fallen to 3.17 on average

will do, applicable for the 5 lug correct? Gonna nab those and a cut off wheel for the shock. I think the coil spring compressor that goes in the middle of the spring works best but ill do more reading before

Yeah, for just about any balljoint or tie rod end that tool is a real handy thing to have around. I'm not sure what the best tool for dealing with 5-lug springs is, the way I do similar chevies is kinda dangerous... my advice is to use a strap and hold your spring to the frame loosely when trying to get it out, that way if it jumps it doesn't come rocketing at you.

That’s the light layer of bondo where the molding holes were welded shut. It’s like fingernail deep

I prefer this guy myself. Position it and hit it with the impact and all you get is a loud bang, not so much of a tool launcher.
Feels like it every time I fill up my van, which thankfully is once a month and due to lack of a lot of trips has been about $100 a pop. Was $5.49/gal when I topped it off this morning. Best part is that running my furnace all night in it had not impact on overall fuel economy. Probably the 20min warming it up this morning was worse.

I use that for some but they bend easily and don't fit the tie rod or the lower balljoint well. I use both with an impact though, either way its good fun, but I'd have two of the pitman arm pullers on hand for if one bends.... only ever used it to pull one pitman and it did great for that.

Nope. The rollover story is cool. The “I let it back into a Wall” isn’t. Procrastination on fixing the shift linkage issue has bit me.

I'll swing by harbor freight shortly for a tool run then. That is smart smart, thanks zane! (I plan on doing the jack under LCA way and backing it out after putting the tool on) should happen towards the end of this month!

I have yet to break or bend mine thankfully.
Parking brake is your friend regardless of automatic or manual. Of course, I say that with my tacomas e brake not connected. I put the acorn pin and safety pins that connect the linkage at the drum somewhere safe when I redid my leafs and now idk where that safe spot was...

Usually I use the park brake. But this was a grab a couple tools and leave deal.

Yeah I’ve used the Grimm Jeeper calculator. I also know it’s slightly inaccurate once you factor in higher elevations and extra weight. The only reason I’m considering 4.56 is I already have an existing new front.

Not too worried about speedo since I have a speed sensor calibration thing that attaches to the transfer case VSS harness.
