Yeah, I get it. Sadly our society makes it very difficult to thrive in such a quaint setting. Creature comforts, jobs, meeting people. All hard to find in a remote location.

Good morning MD. Headed up to W.Va. tomorrow to try and fill my doe tag. The season ends Sunday but I am only hunting Friday and Saturday. I hope to get a few more pictures of my brothers property now that the selective logging has been completed. He got over $100K for the wood they timbered and his property looks awesome. Going to be a deer magnet when the undergrowth comes in over the next couple of seasons. I will be in @$500TRD back yard.

Just scored a nib set of RIPP coil packs on here for cheap from another member. Bought for myself, and wife said it’s my Christmas present for the kids to give to me, so I’ll have to wait to play with them… not sure how that happened, but it did!

Any issues with using a metal cutting/ carbide router dremel to cut the fender if I decide to get a snorkel? I feel the angle grinder might be a bit much for that lol

My brother just retired from the auto body trade after 38 years. I just ran this by him. He told me to suggest that you let me get you an old fender or door skin from his old body shop to practice cutting on first. He said you need to get a feel for what you are using. He said he would use an angle grinder with a 4" wheel. He also said to make sure you cover the glass with a blanket or piece of cardboard. He said the sparks wont harm the paint but it will pock mark the glass. He said to also blow everything off with compressed air when you are done because the little pieces of metal will leave small rust marks on anything it is contact with. We can do it at my place if you want.

Thanks for that advice and offer! I had not thought about covering the windshield but that makes a lot of sense. The only thing I really was going to do is tape the fender where I’d need to cut. With the hole being covered I didn’t think too much into it lol. I’ll have an angle grinder here soon since I need to grind out the rivets for the shackle hangers.

I’ll give you a heads up if I decide to get a snorkel.. I’m really considering it even though there are more practical things to get… like extended brake lines.

I had thought that it might be easiest to control a dremel though might not be best.

I did decide outright against using sheet metal snips :crapstorm:

I did snorkel because I trimmed a lot the fender liners.
Just get a 3-1/4” hole saw at the depot, thats the best way to do it.

Good to know, it seems the 3rd Gen templetes and holes look a little oblong but I think I keep reading it’s going to be about 4” so that size should hole saw would probably do it.

The only part I will probably change up is not drilling into the pillar and instead use a high strength double sided tape for that mount point. If I can find some I think will do the job anyway.

I think he was talking about the Sierra store. I researched it, at one time it was the Sierra Trading post, which looks like it was bought out by TJMax somewhere around 2012 and revamped as Sierra. I went to the original store in Cheyenne a few times.
