Just two further comments on driving in "hours long stop and go traffic":
    • Do I hate driving in heavy traffic, regardless of the transmission of the vehicle I'm driving? HELL YES!
    • Do I hate driving in heavy traffic in a vehicle with an automatic transmission more than I'd hate driving an otherwise identical vehicle in the same traffic? Double HELL YES!

I did give you two options if you fell out of the zero chance statement…

You know, virtually all smart people I know refrain from telling others how they should think.

I drove the daily commute in the bay area for years. An hour and forty five minutes to drive 10 miles, driveway to parking lot at work. 6 speed Tremec with Monster clutch. Repeat in the evening. I never once wished I was driving an automatic instead. But I did wish I could find another job outside of CA so I can skip this workday parking lot traffic fiasco. I did and moved.

    I love these threads.

Driving a manual makes you a MAN

Driving a manual in traffic is fun

A manual transmission makes a slug into a sports car

Manual transmissions are a lifetime commitment

    Don't forget to tune it!

Not sure how you got that far, I'm telling you I prefer a manual transmission, regardless. I am NOT telling you to believe the same thing; drive what you want.

Right. So do I. Just not in traffic. However you are telling me my opinion is wrong because it doesn’t match yours. I did the same, but I know that. :D

Anyway, enjoy your manual in traffic and I’ll enjoy my auto in traffic. Simple as that.

Except an auto is superior in traffic.

I prefer manual in traffic, I like it better than holding the brake pedal the whole time.

Not lying and no it doesn’t make me more of a man.:) I honestly just can’t stand automatics. No offence to anyone, ATs are fine trucks.

Broken logic; I have never once told you what you should believe, just that you shouldn't tell others what they should believe; see the difference? No, I don't suppose you do.

I’ll just add my 2 cents b4 the :locked:, I mainly had manual transmissions over my 50+ years of driving but as I got older I developed a problem in my left ankle which made it a pain to use the clutch and since 2017 it’s been strictly auto trannies for me. Do I miss a manual? Sometimes, but I’m not a rabid fan boy. I expect that the manual option will go the way of the dodo bird in the Gen 4’s.

Don’t understand why it always comes to this. All of us have a choice, so we choose what we like best. There are no “better” or “worse” transmissions. Drive what you like and be happy.

AT tacoma is an excellent truck, just not for me.

Except now you are holding in the clutch which is a hell of a lot harder than the brake.

    I also dislike auto’s.

I love my manual, even in traffic. Even if auto was better, I'd still want a manual. I just like driving it.

My wife's CRV had CVT. I will admit, it is a pleasure to drive. No shifting points is pretty amazing.

In super slow traffic, I throw it in 2WD low mod and she crawls in 1st beautifully, no need to hold the clutch in. ;)

Traffic sucks either way but manual gives me something to do. I’m the type of person that can’t sit still for longer than 5 mins haha.

I won’t lie. I’ve done that before. Mine is an auto but I have a tune almost for the specific reason to have gear lock. I really can’t stand driving something and just sitting there.

My last manual was. 500awhp car with a super stiff puck style clutch and a very lopey idle. I had enough of driving that thing in stop and go traffic.
