I had coolant leaking into the similar area that turned out to be a freeze plug that had started leaking.

Oh fun.. those likely have not been removed or touched for 360k

Will do a deep dive on lunch I suppose.

I will check that out also.
Oh hell, those look like they were easily accessible when I had my trans out. Go figure

I'll report my findings in a bit.

Well... not easy to get photos. Found some evaporated crust on something. Couldn't get a shot of the driver side plug. One behind the starter looks fine.

Found the seal between the tcase and trans is seeping something. Isn't this supposed to not have any fluid in here?

Would that be a culprit of the coolant leak?

It can be, easier fix than the valley pipe for sure

Seeing the symptoms might align. Been getting some loss of power occasionally. Wish I went deeper and just did that when I did my cover gaskets. Hind sight.

Just watched a video and some dude had pools of coolant there. Exposed that bypass pipe... guessing I would need to get to the back to remove it fully?

If I pulled all that off again with new seals would I need to replace them again? Or would they be reusable? Want to make sure I'm doing things right.

Going to try and find a better eye on where the leak is before tearing anything apart. Need my trusty spy mirror

Edit: if this is indeed jacked, in going to replace them this weekend. I've taken the intake and most of this stuff off enough to be able to do it relatively confidently.
Found them for 50/ea from toyota (looks like I need 2) P/n 17177-62060
Anything else I should order while I'm in there?
Can I reuse my fresh plenum gaskets or have they been crushed and are not reusable?
Would really like to not do this again haha
    Tips, tricks? All advise appreciated

Got tired of waiting for Bilstein to ship me coil seats for the front so I replaced my rear shocks. Not sure what these are (part #: P218KA and P348LA1), but I was surprised that the left had almost 5/8" more travel than the Bilstein. The right was basically identical, maybe 1/16" difference.

Those most definitely are not stock, unless they changed the shade of blue and forgot the label

Drive side for first gen is longer shorter than passenger side if I'm not mistaken. At least the Billy's are. For the OME nitros, this didn't apply.

This is what I remember they looked like -

Look like they're the base / low quality Monroe Matics. Same dark blue color.

Hehe the only name I could find on them was on the bushings. I thought I remembered Tokiko, but I just checked again, it says Tenneco. My mistake.

Ugh. Just received my tracking info from Wheeler's. Ordered fully assembled 882 coilovers with a single 5mm trim packer for the driver's side. Well, what do you know - 2 seperate tracking #s. 1 is for 44lbs the 2nd is for 1lb. Guess they didn't assemble it as requested (not only emailed but also a voice call to be sure it was done). Pfft. Back before they were bought up, great CS. Just not feeling it these days. First that piece of :poking: plastic speed sensor adapter and now this.

Called them up to ask and was told the assembly team did assemble them correctly and that the 2nd package is most likely what they removed from the nitros - a "spacer" that ARB sends... say what? Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Most vendors ignore it anyway and send two of the same length, its only supposed to be like 3/4" difference. Best solution is to cut it all off :p

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I know you're a ways out from me. But I have a good coil spring compressor (that isn't sketchy AF, like a lot of them out there). You're welcome to use it.

I'm actually talking to a few guys, right now, about possibly having some Tacoma wrenching festivities at my place next weekend.

Thx for the invite and offer Matt. @MJonaGS32 has a wall or floor mounted compressor I believe and is only like 5 minutes away from me. He hasn't posted since July though and its been forever since I was at one of his MOD Days. Hope he and family are well.

On another note, speedo gear showed up. Will be testing today. Fingers crossed although I'm sure its going to work fine. FWIW, I ordered the speedo gear when partsouq was still closed for their National Holiday (12/1-12/4). They shipped it on 12-5 and it arrived this morning. Didn't get tied up in Memphis - oh that's right, I used UPS Air this time. lol

EDIT: The bolt to secure the speed sensor to the transfer case needs to be longer. The mechanical speed sensor bolt is too short. The correct bolt to use with the electronic sensor (8318112020) is 9161160828.

Awesome... Let me know how it goes with that gear. My TG adapter is starting to get loud again lol.

My first thought was that the PO had installed 2 of the same, but left and right were different part #s. That manufacturer (whoever they are) does things differently, apparently
