This is one item I can always find, it stays in the drawer on the oil change cart in a zip lock bag. Too messy to put anywhere else.

Keep reaching out and trying on occasion. Sometimes it is difficult to forgive and impossible to forget. However you only get one set of genes. I’m NoOne and my brother is an asshole. He’s still my brother and I’ll do what I can for him. I’m just likely to make “that face” and pause first. It’s easy to carry anger, but work to overcome our flaws. I hope one day you can once again find common ground.

Alright, let me set this up...

Remember before engineering college I was a bodyman until 22 years old. A friend's dad had a machine shop so I hung out there too. I had a pretty sound upbringing around shops.
Anyway, I am beginning my 3rd year of my BbSME program and it was "machine shop and metal joinery." Basically a two credit hour lab where future engineering types could touch and feel tools and maybe get a 7018 rod stuck and maybe turn a blank.
From my body shop days, I was a really good brazer and could stick and mig. I also knew my way around manual end mills and lathes. These tools were not the best. No CNC in 1988 lol. Anyway, just like all engineering classes this one had a final project. You could build an already designed cannon, a small catapault or you could design your own. However, if you chose to design your own you had to draw and tolerance it, basically make a real working drawing.
Once built, all projects were measured and checked according to drawings and graded accordingly. Only me and one other guy chose to build our own. He chose to build a hash pipe. He never finished. I chose to build a truck, machined out of 3x3 aluminum bar stock. Chased the knurls on the lathe as well!
I got an A and still have this thing today. My son and daughter played with it and now my granddaughter plays with it. It is sorta indestructible and the wheels roll on steel axles press fitted to the wheels. I'm sure it is amateur to you guys but to me it was cool!
    Here it is....

    Cool!
You built something tough enough to be handed down through the generations.
I see a bit of early Ranger in the style.

I prefer the quart zip lock bag with a 1/4 cup of grease tossed in. Work the grease into the bearing any way you like. No mess on your hands.

That tool works good, but has to be stored in a ...zip lock bag...

Lose the tool and keep the bag.

It seems every part I get delivered comes in a zip lock bag. I don't see a point for that tool.

I usually wear a pair of nitrile gloves while playing with anything greasy/messy. Makes clean up a cinch.

I got it years ago when I used to work on domestic 4 x 4 trucks with the giant wheel bearings, makes for an easy job, just a few pumps of the grease gun.

I broke it out for the first time in years to use on the 66' Ford, probably the only modern vehicles with serviceable wheel bearings would be heavy 2 wheel drive trucks like an F-350. :notsure:

That is because all those plants were demolished before 1990!

I would hope things have improved.
