Anyone near the Spartanburg area and wanna make 100.00, drink some beer, and throw tools at my truck?

No no, I’m not looking for a good time, today that is, I’m looking to solve a fucking headache.

Long story short, I’m trying to rule out if my tires are to blame for a subtle yet annoying shake/vibration I get between 30-60+.

My tires are in near mint shape. Had them road forced today.. but the issue continues. I’ve ruled out my suspension, which just leaves these tires.. and maybe my driveshaft /LCA or a wheel bearing.

If someone wouldn’t mind swapping tires and driving up and down the road, I’d be grateful as can be. I don’t mind spending 1.6k on new tires… I just don’t want to unless I have to lol.

Or, if y’all are having a meet anytime soon, that would work too! Sorry if sounds weird. I don’t know anyone else with a Tacoma or I’d ask them :p

Did you swap the needle bearing for the solid spacer?

If not, does the shaking go away in 4hi?

could also be bad driveline angles.

I’m just gonna post this, I posted it on Reddit. It’s got a great amount of detail. Also, I can’t help but think it is too. I’m wondering if I should observe the zerks and see what they are looking like.

Anyway, if you’re interested, here’s the big post.

I am running into a wall here. My truck likes to vibrate / ride rough and it wasn’t always like this.. It’s like I can feel every bump in the road. Started about a thousand miles ago. Hoping I can describe it and maybe get some tips from y’all?

    - 2018, TRD OR 49k miles.
    - 265/75/16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
    - Eibach Pro suspension 2.5” lift

Issue was not present with suspension as it for over 20k miles.

    Issue description:
    - When driving normal in a straight line a bumpy / vibration is felt in my legs, the floorboard.
    - Issue is also found when following the curve of the road, turning at speeds
    - Issue is persistent from 30MPH-75+
    - Issue occurs both uphill, and downhill, with uphill making it slightly more prominent

    What I’ve done so far
    - Rotated and balanced tires (road force) (twice)
    - Alignment done (twice)
    - Replaced my suspension, drove for 1,000 miles, then replaced my suspension again with a better kit, issue remained
    - Hooked up my computer, monitored all cylinders, monitored PIDS for both the engine and trans, nothing found - no DTC’s
    - Checked ATF (had Dealer do this, I’m at level and it was clean)
    - Tire condition is good

Only thing I have not done is inspect the drive shaft, drop it and assure it’s balanced.

Replaced my suspension twice. The first time I got the same kit I had before, the second time I upgraded it. I did this within 30 days, I have the funds and resources.. I know it sounds stupid, but I did repurpose the other new kit I bought on a buddies truck.

Yea, I have the ECGS bushing, that’s not the problem.

At this point… I have no idea what could be causing the issue. I’ve driven another third gen, same truck model, it rides much smoother. I know these things are Cadillacs, but when things start to ride different.. you can feel it. I’m just trying to source this.

Also, I call it a “rough ride / shudder” feeling because it’s almost like they are combined. It’s not overly harsh, but not super subtle. Just feels like I’m driving an 85 GMC jimmy. Hard to explain verbally lol.

Any tips or help would be of great value. Thank you.

EDIT: there is no notable loss of power when the issue occurs. I’ve also unlocked the TC while it occurs (brake and acceleration) issue remains.

I was having some vibe issues when I first lifted my truck. One was the needle bearing. The other was fixed by shimming the driveshaft at the carrier bearing.

Try 2* shims or a carrier bearing drop kit.

Doing the carrier one tomorrow. Would that vibe specially happen at all speeds or just take off?

Could it be a wheel bearing starting to go? I don't know what that sounds like newer cars that use the whole bearing assembly.

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.

I would assume you swapped front to back with tires at some point. Not likely you have 4 bad tires. Feel like it’s in your drivetrain somewhere though.
