I'll bet it means they're going to make a few stacks of them before they start selling them. I'd buy spares if/when they're available.

Makes sense. Just odd to me that Toyota would start selling the wheels without enough center caps available since they are relatively strict about the image of the things they sell, especially upgrade parts/packages.

Maybe they are a different size? The first batch was made wrong? So many questions!

Here is the label on the rim of the wheel. I knew at the time, but the manufacturer made wheels for all sorts of automakers. I can't recall the name. I bought mine pre-covid 2020. I also had the rings powdered coated locally.

Like a toy without batteries. :bananadead: Wheels were probably re-released so owners could source spares.

I won't buy these until caps are available and I really should upgrade to 17's to fit a bigger brake kit. :annoyed:

Neither can we, the UK company that made all the FJ/Baja Beadlocks was bought not that long ago along with another famous UK wheel maker.

I bet that Rim Stock is who bought the FJ/Baja Beadlock manufacturer which stopped production at the sale.

I'm interested to see what happens when we get a pic of the gunmetal / bronze if the painting process is the same between both versions.

Tell me about it. It's been about six and a half years and I still can't hit that stretch of road with out going into a grumpy mood. Dude missed a turn and drilled me. Absolutely shredded my frame and tore the LH upright straight out of his car.

OK, now I see where my confusion came from. I originally saw his add for a grey set but when I looked earlier today I found he also has an add for that black set.

Update: while these are available they are already on back order or may have always been a pre order scenario.

I wonder why caps are included from BAM and not Elmhurst Toyota on fleabay or offerup.

Am I crazy or are these gunmetal inside too?

Mine are black inside and grey outside. What are yours @eurowner and @clenkeit ?

Same. Mine are not uniform color - blackish color on the inside and grey on the outside. Even the bronze one I had was like that.

Okay, I figured as much. I can’t tell I’m the photo if it’s pixelation or if the grey has a touch of metallic flake. Can you tell I’ve got some time on my hands tonight?

I think it's just the photo. Some of the pics of his grey wheels look normal, then there's one that looks totally different. Almost metallic but almost like a rough texture finish as well. I'm thinking it's just an issue with the photo/camera.

That looks so damn good! Exactly what I’m after. If only it could be 17”

Here’s an example of the FN overlander wheels. You can customize them with polished center cap, painted cap, polished ring, painted ring etc. When I get my truck back from the body shop I’ll be going this route

Thank you, I know about those; they will even accept the TRD center caps. Unfortunately the fake bead lock ring on those is not removable. So you can’t fix or replace those when they get too much rock rash, unlike the Toyota rims
