I got a manual because my wife can’t drive one so she’ll never ask to borrow it.

I wish Toyota would make a 7.3l diesel Tundra.

Should be an 8.2 V10 twin turbo diesel hybrid Tundra.

I honestly dont see the point of MT unless youre like racing or something. Totally not related to me not knowing how to drive stick and hiding my insecurity

I’d be happy with a 2.4L hybrid Tacoma mated to an 8- to 10-speed automatic (not CVT).

Eventually they’ll make an electric, and there’ll be no more shifting other than “on” and “off.”

The first 3rd gen I test drove was a manual. Out of my now 18 Toyota 4x4's almost all have been manuals. But to be honest I wasn't a huge fan coming out of my 5th gen 4Runner which had a great auto. Wound up with a 17 TRD OR DCLB which obviously was an auto. Loved the truck but holy hell what a fucking horrible automatic transmission! I will admit gas mileage was very impressive but towing with it was painful and I drive 100 miles a day with lots of elevation changes. I was looking into tunes and getting ready to install a new suspension with a little lift and slightly larger wheels/tires. All that stuff sitting next to my toolbox at work. And I just happened to see a manual come up a dealer close by and drove it. That's now in my driveway. I should have just bought the first one I drove. SO much better.

So does my wife. She learned driving on a stick, her first 2 cars while going through college and graduate school were Toyota Tercel and Nissan Sentra, both manual. She didn't like either.

I daily drive my 08 plain jane single cab 5MT and a 2019 TRDOR Premium 6MT on the weekends. We car pool a lot for work, she's bugging me to sell the 08 because the manual crank windows and non-recline bench seats, plus it's a manual.

I think she has to try harder.

    Hello there!

My previous cars were manuals. I had an 2011 evo, 2007 sti, 2007 350z and a 2018 brz. I wanted to get out of sports car and into off-roading and overlanding and I came across a sweet deal for a trd off road premium 6MT. It feels great being able to shift gears like before but the tacoma is painfully slow. I have been driving a manual transmission for so long that the Tacoma came natural to me, even though its not the best in traffic. Had my Taco for 3 years and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned!

Why not get a Ford Ranger with a 10R80? If the Toyota 6 speeds are that bad.

Well i am under the impression its not a fundamental build flaw in the transmission itself as much as just poorly tuned and am hopeful for a tune down the road (if 2.7 tunes ever become available or maybe a dealer tune would be possible dont know )That being said i just turned 2k miles on mine and it has become noticeably better (after i did the trans fluid check procedure and added 3/4 quart ATF)after more "learning"?I l LOVE literally everything else about this truck .
