I installed the Runin’ 4 Tacos remote controlled tailgate lock kit. Super easy, it took an hour.

You'll be able to go anywhere in snow country with those.
    Congrats
I was at one time a ski patroller in Canadian Rockies and studded tire on all 4 saved my butt many times.

Today I made more progress on the rock light mount for in front of the rear wheels. Two options:
1: For Tacomas without rock sliders:
A mount that fits flush to the body
    [IMG]

2: For Tacomas with rock sliders
    A mount that extends lower.

The difference is the shadow cast by the rock sliders with Option 1 and the light that shines on the slider itself.
    vs Option 2
    [IMG]

My goal was to match the coverage from the front rock light, so I'm pretty satisfied with the effort.

These mounts are now part of a set I have for sale in the 3rd Gen forum:

Once upon a time, there was a guy.

he built a lot of houses, and would tell people, hey, you see all those houses, I built those. But nobody ever called him a house builder.

he also built boats. He would tell people, hey, you see all those boats, I built all those boats. But nobody ever called him a boat builder.

he would say, you see all those docks, I built all those docks, but nobody ever called him a dock builder.

    but, fuck one goat….

Alberta, eh? You guys see some serious snow and ice up there... frozen land of hoth. The plan is tour the American Rockies in the winter and the hope is that these will get me through the Eisenhower and a few other snowy/icy parts of the state.

Assuming you are in CO and are talking about the Eisenhower tunnel you'll be fine. But with those tires and the rest of your gear, you're going to be fine visiting all kinds of other less traveled areas. Enjoy the Rockies; I sure do!
