Just got the extra leaf added to my RXTs for Stage 3. I was sure to put a thin layer of Fluid Film in between each leaf to hopefully prevent squeaks and rust. Gonna be running Bilstein 5100/OME 887 and the RXTs with Bilstein 5125s. Just waiting on UCAs and U-bolt flip kit from Accutune. I’ll be sure to let ya’ll know how it rides once installed. This thread has been very helpful with decision making on these.

Has anyone gone from opt 2 to 3? where does that additional leaf go? after reading the directions 10-20 times I believe it goes beneath the 3rd leaf? can canyon chime in and confirm im correct?

Update: ICON was able to ship me a new bushing. They ‘overnighted’ it on Friday and it came Monday. Interestingly it’s a Toyota part.

This is the video I used to help along with the directions from Icon. Make sure to pay attention to the front to back as well. As pictured above the lettering on my add a leaf and the original pack were oriented the same direction. One end of the added leaf is longer than the other.

    1. Re-Torque the Ubolts
    2. Check your spare tire to make sure its tight and up all the way
    3. Power wash the leaf packs to clean them, even better if you can do it with the wheels off the ground.
    4. Fluid film the leaf packs and the bushings.
    5. Grease up the round pads by using a pry bar to separate them a little to gain space.
    6. Drive it around for a few days to allow everything to soak in.

We have a surefire method that we call the bicycle tire method and those that have used it have enjoyed 100% success in silencing squeaks on these packs. Head on down to Walmart and pick up a bicycle inner-tube. Cut it into small strips (a few inches long). Lift the truck and then use a prybar to separate the leafs. Use a brush to clean up the area, and then USE PLIERS to put a small strip of the bicycle tire rubber where you can see that the leafs are making contact.

Use this instead, I had good luck installing this on some dakars for a customer who lives on a dirt road.

So I need to go to option 2 I think. Can you just swap from option 1 to option 2 without the hardware kit? Somehow I put it somewhere where I wouldn't lose it....and I've lost it.

Truck was good on option1 with the oem bed mat, a swing case with 50lbs in it, a 34" spare tire/wheel, and a tote with a jack and a few tools in it. Now with the extra 150lbs from the Alu Cab, I need to get back a half inch or so.

Option 2 should use the same hardware as Option 1 since its the same number of leaf springs… you are just swapping the third leaf from the top for a stiffer version. Only option 3 requires the longer retainer and center bolt because you are adding 1 additional leaf and increasing total pack thickness.
